Are you interested in helping footwear giants innovate and provide solutions that work for their customers? Come to Lubrizol as a Footwear Applications Engineer and lead new product development programs targeted in the footwear industry, related to molded parts or films. A key function of this role is to develop test protocols for finished parts related to end use performance, while also serving as a key technical contact for major footwear partners.




  • Leads application development projects related to molding or films to support the footwear business based on next generation products.
  • Supports new business development efforts through leading application development projects and customer contact.
  • Establishes protocols to quantify part and film performance as related to end use performance.
  • Conducts customer trials of newly developed products for footwear markets.
  • Develops application tests to validate performance in the end use.
  • Assists other regional application labs and interdivisional projects.
  • Stays current with new developments in TPU chemistry, characterization and processing.
  • Provides customer and conference technical or product presentations as requested.
  • Proactively maintains a safe working environment.
  • Performs other required scientist functions as assigned.




  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree, preferably in chemical, mechanical, polymer, or textile engineering. Advanced degree a plus.
  • Previous experience in applications development or related R&D is required
  • Previous industry experience with plastics or polymer processing is required
  • Experience working with external customers, including providing support and relationship development, is required.
  • Experience with extrusions, thermoplastic polyurethanes or related elastomers, &/or injection molding is preferred.
  • Expected travel will range from 20-35% (both domestic and international)
