As a Codes & Approvals Manager, you'll be supporting our TempRite business segment.  In this role, you will be responsible for the understanding, monitoring, modification and internal communication of building codes and product standards that affect TempRite products.  In addition, you will obtain product approvals and certifications as needed to allow TempRite products to be sold and used for their intended purpose. Your project management skills, ability to build relationships, and technical knowledge will set you up for success.

 

Ideally, this role will be based out of our Lubrizol Advanced Materials Headquarters in Brecksville, OH, but can be remote if not within commutable distance. 

 

What You'll Do:

  • Obtain and maintain product listings, certification and approvals for TempRite products at North American based agencies, such as NSF, UL, FM, CSA, etc.
  • Monitor, comment on, and propose changes to North American construction codes, such as International Plumbing, Mechanical and Building Codes, Uniform Plumbing and Mechanical Codes, Building and Plumbing Code of Canada, etc.
  • Monitor, comment on, and propose changes to NFPA standards to accurately describe the proper use of CPVC fire sprinkler pipe and antifreeze.
  • Participate in industry associations such as NSF Industry Forum, PPFA, PPI, etc.
  • Represent TempRite on code and standard committees, such as ASTM, NFPA, CSA, etc.
  • Define methods and strategies to incorporate new TempRite technologies into North American codes and standards.
  • Assist TempRite customers and field organization to resolve code issues and insure acceptance of TempRite products.
  • Participate in all North American business teams (plumbing, fire protection and industrial) to facilitate the use of codes, standards and approvals to increase the sales and value of TempRite products.

 

What We're Looking For:

  • 5+ years’ industrial or construction experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, or relevant equivalent experience.
  • A working knowledge of construction practices as they apply to the design and installation of piping systems.
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to use technical knowledge to negotiate and verbally influence people.  Ability to think and modify argument content to effectively impact opinion.
  • Initiate and manage evaluation projects at outside agencies.  Communicate project status to the business unit.
  • Secure approvals with urgency and help shorten the overall approval process.
  • Strong ability to develop successful internal partnerships to effectively gain industry respect and reputation.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Excellent organizational and planning competencies.
  • Capable of traveling as required domestically and globally on short notice.
  • Strong computer skills and excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, email, and other business-related software.
