This person will lead new product development programs targeted with US based customers related to molded parts or films. A key function is to develop test protocols for finished parts related to end use performance. Acting as technical contact for key customers in the region is also an important role. Frequent contact with external customers, brands and partners is expected.



  • Lead application development projects related to molding or films to support the business based on next generation products in footwear, industrial or recreational markets.
  • Support new business development efforts through leading application development projects and customer contact.
  • Establish protocols to quantify part and film performance as related to end use performance.
  • Conduct customer trials of newly developed products for impacted markets.
  • Develop application tests to validate performance in the end use.
  • Assist other regional application labs and interdivisional projects.
  • Stay current with new developments in TPU chemistry, characterization and processing.
  • Provide customer and conference technical or product presentations as requested.
  • Proactively maintain a safe working environment and other required scientist functions.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Ph.D. degree in Polymer or Chemical Engineering or Polymer/Material Science and 3 years of industry experience in Applications Development or related R&D.


  • M.S. degree in Polymer or Chemical Engineering or Polymer/Material Science and 5 years of industry experience in Applications Development or related R&D.
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated industry experience (depending on degree) with thermoplastic polyurethanes or related elastomers and their applications in an injection molding or extrusion related field.
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated industry experience (depending on degree) providing significant customer support and relationship development.
  • Travel will range from 20-35% both domestic and international.
