What You'll Do:

TempRite is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Application Engineer to join our R&D team. The primary focus of this role is to support business growth in TempRite's engineered materials. The Application Engineer will work closely with a cross-functional team to deliver technical solutions for new and exciting applications.

 

What We're Looking For:

  • Support formulation, processing and customer trials related to sheet and foam applications.
  • Ensure excellent personal and process safety, regulatory, and housekeeping performance in laboratory operations.
  • Collaborate with a team of independent researchers focused on formulation and characterization of CPVC compounds with a keen focus on processing and product performance.
  • Demonstrate understanding of formulating components and their impact of on the finished good properties.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Applications, Technical Service, Procurement, and manufacturing plants to scale up new products to meet customer needs.
  • Engage with customers, commercial partners, and others in R&D to help drive the successful development of new products.
  • Work with cross-functional project team to develop compounds to meet diverse end-use applications.
  • Maintain accurate and clear records and written reports on experimental data and interpretation of results. Evaluate experimental and production data and identify trends.

Skills That Make a Difference:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Polymer Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in the chemical or manufacturing industry, preferably in sheet and foam applications
  • Hands on experience in extruding plastic sheet and foam in lab or production environment

  • Ability to take initiative, lead decisively, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and communications skills (written and verbal).
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize processing expertise to solve problems and develop product technology.
  • Willingness to adhere to all lab safety and personal protective equipment requirements, including use of a respirator as needed.
  • Strong PC skills including MS Office Suite
  • Ability to travel as required (less than 25%)

Considered a Plus:

  • Compounding and processing experience of PVC, CPVC, or related polymers
  • Experience in CAD design for extrusion and/or injection molding equipment.  
  • Hands on experience in extruding profiles, thermal forming and coextrusion in lab or production environment
  • Knowledge of polymer processing and associated testing and analysis techniques
  • Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis principles
