Regional HSES Manager - Americas
Accountability Statement
This role is accountable for providing health, safety, environment, and security (HSES) support—including process safety management (PSM)—to facilities in their region. The regional manager will provide direct support to the Lubrizol facilities located in Central, South America and some smaller sites in the USA. The regional manager is also responsible for providing direct support to assure ongoing safe operations in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and corporate policies and standards while striving for continuous improvement and industry best-practices in support of One Lubrizol.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide tactical leadership and subject matter expertise for site HSES (Health, Safety, Environment, and Security) employees in the region.
- Implement and support regional HSES initiatives, programs, and the Americas regional HSES plan, aligning with corporate goals and KPIs.
- Conduct and support site and regional audits (Health & Safety, Process Safety, Environmental, RCMS, RC14001).
- Lead and support incident investigations, case management, and identification of site-specific risks.
- Collaborate with Senior Manager HSES Americas and Global HSES to identify risks and develop programs.
- Support and maintain management systems and certifications (RCMS, RC14001), including Process Safety Management (PSM) and environmental compliance, with a focus on process Safety.
- Deliver technical support and training to upskill employees, clarify standards, and share best practices.
- Ensure compliance with Process Safety, PPE, energy control, hazardous communication, emergency response, hot work, working from heights, confined space permitting, ergonomics, and other programs.
- Support project implementation and adoption of new standards and tools across all HSES functional areas.
- Represent the region by communicating site needs and expectations to global stakeholders.
Expertise / Knowledge / Skills
- Educational degree in Engineering, Safety, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in HSES, chemical plant site management, process safety, engineering, or a related area.
- Must have knowledge of HSES regulations and industry standards.
- Experience in a chemical or petrochemical company.
- Remote work experience and regional management experience are strong pluses.
- Strong organizational and influencing skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proven ability to work successfully with internal and external customers in a professional manner.
- Fluent in written and spoken English and Spanish.
