Candidate will provide support to two manufacturing engineers, implement operator project improvement ideas, support and/or lead capital projects, and support building systems such as MOC’s, RCA’s, PHA’s, PSSR’s, JSA’s and CHA’s. This role will interact frequently with operators, manufacturing engineers, maintenance, and PT engineers. The position reports directly to the Manufacturing Manager.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support the Adva, Parvati, WSP, Pilot areas with safety and process improvements 
  • Batch tracking to identify repeat failures and implement corrective actions
  • Provide PT and Manufacturing Support for capital projects
  • Planning the Parvati and Pilot charge schedule

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Overall efforts are directed towards improving the aging infrastructure of the area, supporting manufacturing engineers and operators with improvements, and working with PT engineers on scale up questions while also supporting the systems in the area that allow us to improve safety and product quality.

 

Safety

  • Ensure safe operations by observing all Health, Safety and Environmental (HS&E) procedures.  Update and standardize operating procedures in area.
  • Ensure we adhere to various systems that involve improving and maintaining the area such as but not limited to MOC’s, PHA’s, CHA’s, PSSR’s, JSA’s and incident reporting.

 

Organizational Management

  • Understand the general concepts of ISO 9001 quality standards and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
  • Set the weekly schedule for Parvati and the Pilot Area
  • Interact daily with foreman and manufacturing engineers to successfully execute the operating plan.
  • Planning weekly tasks and objectives to meet the production schedule and plant initiatives.

 

Continuous Improvement

  • Strong focus on Continuous Improvement with emphasis on the following principles: Learning Organization, Process Centered and Long-term Vision.  Support and lead initiatives in 5S, Leader Standard Work (LSW), Procedural Standardization and training program enhancements.
  • Drive continual improvement of the operating areas in the areas of product quality, process development, efficiency, HS&E and untapped human creativity. 
  • Become familiar with the operating equipment and be able to troubleshoot problems to improve equipment performance.
  • Work with maintenance coordinator to improve equipment reliability.
  • Work with chemical operators to learn the process and how it is performed and to solicit innovative ideas for improvement.
  • Work with department engineers to identify, provide justification and start-up support for capital projects.
  • Monitor product quality and lead effort to continuously drive improvements in process capability. 

 

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Requirements:

  • B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in chemical plant operations
  • Demonstrated process engineering skills, with an emphasis on safety, troubleshooting and process improvement.
  • Familiar with unit operations and able to learn and understand intricacies of specific chemical processes.
  • Lead and participate in cross functional teams in new product development, technology transfer, process improvement and general operations.

 

Considered a Plus

  • Experience with project engineering, construction processes, and project management.
  • Experience leading PHA’s and using MOC’s
  • Programming experience with Delta V DCS.
  • Knowledge of SAP
