What You'll Do:

As a Process Development Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, provides ongoing support and solutions for both new product development and strategic manufacturing support for Beauty & Home and Performance Coatings Process Technology. You'll collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing and enhance modern life. Your work will directly impact both manufacturing and commercial functions.

 

What We're Looking For:

  • Actively participates in plant and corporate Health, Safety, Environmental, & Security (HSES) initiatives including Leader Standard Work (LSW), OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM), department safety meetings, and environmental initiatives.
  • Manages new product development projects from pilot to full-scale manufacturing.
  • Design, execute, analyze, and report (both written and verbal) on multiple, simultaneous complex projects within pilot plant and commercial scale manufacturing.
  • Lead, and support product development, product scale up, process capability improvements, and new raw material evaluation projects.
  • Collaborate with global project teams of scientists, engineers, and product managers for successful scale up and product realization.  Fosters professional relationships with business partners including Sales and Marketing, Product Management, Synthesis, Applications, and Procurement.
  • Coordinate and consult on new capital projects as needed.
  • Work with external manufacturing partners for scale up and development of new products.
  • Improve processes and capabilities by enhancing department workflow and challenging the status quo for more efficient product scale up, operations, and customer response.
  • Support global manufacturing initiatives, continuous improvement principles, and strategy through new process technology.

 

Skills That Make a Difference:

  • Bachelor's or higher-level degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing operations experience. 
  • Strong fundamental knowledge in chemical engineering principles with proven problem-solving abilities and “hands-on” mechanical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.  Ability to work with others at all levels of the organization in multiple sites globally.
  • Knowledge of chemical and polymer unit operations, batch and continuous, including process/equipment design.
  • Ability to travel domestic and internationally.
  • Knowledge of experimental design (DOE) and data analysis using fundamental statistical techniques and statistical software.
  • Project management skills utilizing stage-gate systems.

 

Considered a Plus:

  • Prior experience with polymers, acrylic emulsions, dispersants, dispersions, as well as process automation, solids processing, pilot plants and the application of statistical analysis tools.
  • Experience with research and development, scale-up, and commercialization.
  • Knowledge and application of SAP enterprise software, ASPEN process modeling software or CFD.
  • Detailed knowledge of project management tools and systems.
  • Participation in the Lubrizol Co-Op program.
