Primary Accountabilities:

  • Manage all operations and lead organization for the Performance Coatings (PCG) and Personal Home and HealthCare (PHHC) Pilot Plant and ADVA manufacturing located in B421 at Avon Lake.
  • Develop existing employees at all levels of the organization and select/hire new employees as needed.
  • Maintain processes and equipment to meet all HSE&S operating standards and expectations.
  • Ensure quality systems and processes are in place and continuously improved to meet customer demand with high quality products, excellent customer service and the lowest possible cost.
  • Successfully support the scale-up of new products and implement capital projects to meet increasing business demand.
  • Develop continuous improvement mind-set for all employees to ensure long-term sustainability and profitability.

 

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Support all Avon Lake Health, Safety & Environmental program and embrace the belief that that every incident is preventable.  Be accountable to goals based on these programs (PSM, safety discussions, hazard identification and reporting, incident investigations, root cause analysis, etc.).
  • Develop and track Key Performance Indicators for operating departments.  Develop plans to improve poor results to meet the annual targets.
  • Manage personnel issues (career development, succession planning, staffing, performance reviews, discipline, etc.) for all employees in the department.
  • Develop a culture that is responsive to the manufacturing environment and business needs through team work and personal accountability.
  • Understand quality systems (ISO 9001:2015 and EFfCI) and Process Safety Management to ensure resources and controls are in place to meet all requirements.
  • Lead customer communications as needed, including prompt resolution of all complaints.
  • Approve all department expenses and implement ideas to improve unit efficiency and reduce operating cost.
  • Manage capital plan for the department.  This includes planning, project selection, prioritization, justification and implementation.   Projects should support safety improvements, maintain equipment and support business growth.
  • Provide leadership to meet the strategic plan of the various Business Units and maintain communication lines with the PCG and PHC business and operations groups including Process Technology, Manufacturing, R&D, Sales and Marketing.
  • Participate as a member of the Avon Lake Plant Management Team.

 

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

  • BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering. 
  • 7+ years of process engineering and/or manufacturing management in chemical industry.
  • Ability to lead with little supervision and excellent initiative.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with individuals at all organizational levels.

 

Considered a Plus:

  • Advanced degree. 
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma & Lean Manufacturing.
