Senior Account Manager Additives Germany (m/f/d)

As part of the EMEA sales organization and reporting to the EMEA Senior Sales Manager Performance Coatings you will be responsible for implementing the growth strategy for our Performance Coatings Group Additives portfolio, (Surface Modifiers and Hyper-Dispersants technologies), within GERMANY by directing and planning the sales activities.

The position will be home office-based in Germany, with an ability to attend our Lubrizol Bremen site on a regular basis.


Major activities and principal responsibilities:

  • Lead the sales and market development activities to promote growth of the business for assigned accounts; initiate commercial and technical discussion to confirm customers’ needs and propose value selling solutions.
  • Proven track record of delivering growth and business objectives.
  • Ability to self-start and work on your own initiative.
  • Experience in managing and planning large multinational accounts.
  • Identify and evaluate market opportunities to be able to enter new and growing applications, identify and support the launch of new products.
  • Accelerate a mindset change from product sales to solution provider.
  • Identify gaps and be part of the solution.
  • Develop deep knowledge of market and applications of Performance Coatings products.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with all customers in scope of responsibility.
  • Develop and implement Key Account plans.
  • Work closely and share information with Marketing and Sales colleagues to achieve company objectives.
  • Develop good understanding of competition and market dynamics.
  • Excellent communication skills required aligned with a “Can do” attitude.
  • Build strong networks with internal teams; Marketing, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and others as needed to achieve company objectives.


Required skills, qualifications, and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS in Marketing, Business, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering), MBA is also acceptable.
  •  Minimum 10 years of experience in the coating additives industry, (Surface Modifiers and Hyper-dispersants technologies), in similar sales functions in an international environment,
  • Strong track record of delivering higher than market growth.
  • Demonstrated successes in achieving sales growth with additives, in implementing new products, solution, technology and value selling programs.
  • Account Management: previous experience and ability in managing complex regional/international accounts.
  • People management skills.
  • Value selling.
  • Results oriented, strategic thinking and strong commercial mindset.
  • Excellent communication skill required allied with self-motivation and a “can do” attitude.
  • Ability to connect with internal and external customers at all organizational levels and diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Relationship building with key decision makers.
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal), mother tongue in German, another European language is considered a plus.
  • Computer literate, being able to use Microsoft applications to a high level.
  • Demonstrate a good degree of Financial Acumen in the business environment.
  • Willingness to travel (50% +)
