Purpose:

  • To provide HSE guidance and support; working on site based programs to ensure compliance and supporting local site management and staff in meeting our HSE goals and plans.

 

  • To ensure regulatory compliance with site operating permits.

 

Role accountabilities:

 

  • Coaches managers, supervisors and HSE volunteers for HSE aspects including training at all levels to increase awareness and bevahiours of HS&E

 

  • Monitor compliance with relevant health/safety environmental regulations and governmental demands through periodical inspections/ audits and reporting on IPPC/COMAH operating requirements.

 

  • Plans, implements, and coordinates multi-disciplinary projects and improves processes for HSE data collection and interpretation, including industrial hygiene and PPE program, standards and commitment to the management principles of Responsible Care at a local site and UK level

 

  • Reviews and interprets new Regulatory changes and advises senior managers of their responsibilities with recommendations for future initiatives and actions, including representing Lubrizol Mostyn Site at industry forums, OEM’s, Regulators and with customers

 

  • Identifies, defines and negotiates HSE initiatives and developments with regulators and internal customers.

 

  • Actively participates at relevant HS&E meetings/committees including interpreting and presenting data for continuous performance improvement.

 

Expertise, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Full membership to the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent.

 

  • Understanding of Process Safety, Environmental Management and Chemical plant operations

 

  • Experience in designing and delivering training and initiatives in a range of formats to all levels.
     
  • Broad experience in the field of Health and Safety and the Environment with demonstrable experience in the Chemical Industry.

 

  • Able to lead in the areas of project management, problem solving using interdepartmental and cross site teams.

 

  • Detailed knowledge of current and emerging H, S & E legislation and proposed changes, and utilising this knowledge to implement compliance.

 

  • Company representative for dealing with external regulatory agencies and industry work groups and may act as point of contact.

 

  • In depth understanding of business risk and knowledge of Health Safety and Environmental management systems.

 

  • Effectively network internally between different departments and UK sites as a shared service function and improves processes for HSE data collection and interpretation.

 

 

Based at the Mostyn Manufacturing Site, the role requires excellent communication, influencing and coaching skills and proven experience in the chemical manufacturing industry.  

 

 

 

 

The Mostyn site is located in a small village in Flintshire, North Wales lying on the estuary of the River Dee.  This beautiful Welsh Border county has a countryside and coast enriched by a fascinating history with castles dating back to the 13th century and Abbey churches from the 7th century.  Excellent road and rail links make it easily accessible, 27 miles from the historic Roman city of Chester with Liverpool and Manchester within a 1 to 1.5 hours’ drive.

 

Sitting to the west of the county the Snowdonia National Park can be reached in under an hour offering amazing scenery, superb hill climbing, world class mountain bike trails, surfing off the Llyn Peninsular and the Cambrian coastline with big beaches and small coves.  The area offers affordable housing, a low cost of living with an outstanding quality of life in a rural setting.
