Test Engineer – e-Axle, Driveline and Industrial Lubricant development

 

Student Placement

 

At Lubrizol, we have a growing student community in the UK with over 30 placements each year across a number of roles. We are recruiting for one student to join the Mechanical Testing department e-Axle, Driveline and Industrial Lubricant as a Test Engineer.

 

During your time as a Test Engineer at Lubrizol you will be part of a skilled professional team with colleagues from various engineering backgrounds. This role involves a high level of responsibility and provides a great learning curve in both technical and practical knowledge, self-management and work prioritisation. You will use your engineering knowledge, creativity and problem-solving skills to provide a high quality testing service which is vital to the successful development of fluid technologies within the e-Axle, Driveline and Industrial Lubricants Additive space.

 

 

What you will be doing:

 

•           Testing various lubricants aiding the development of bespoke additives on a variety of hardware from leading vehicle and component manufacturers

•           Test data acquisition, processing, and analysis based on engineering principles

•           Interacting within your department peers, commercial areas and research groups

•           Presentation of results to internal business segment and writing of project reports, for both internal and external purposes

•           Operating a combination of mechanical performance rig test hardware and control systems

•           Evolving skills in project management, product testing and lubricant performance development for the transportation business

 

 

What you will need:

 

•           Studying towards an Automotive or Mechanical Engineering related degree involving a year in industry, aiming for a 2:1

•           Achieved a grade C or above in A Level Maths or Physics (or equivalent - including BTECs / Level 2 Apprenticeships)

•           Interest and understanding of transmissions, driveline, industrial or emerging e-component technologies preferred

•           Excellent verbal and written communication skills, team player with positive outlook

•           Competent IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office

•           A keen interest in engineering, knowledge of engines (SI and CI)

•           To be self-motivated and driven to lead projects to timely completion
