Electrical Engineer – Facilities Management

This role is based at Lubrizol’s European technical centre located in a rural setting at Hazelwood, eight miles from Derby City Centre.

 

Lubrizol are looking to recruit an Electrical Engineer to work as part of the Hazelwood Facilities Management team. 

 

This role provides Engineering technical support within the technical fields of Electrical or Controls Engineering. Work includes designing, developing, maintaining and improving the operational efficiency of plant and equipment across the site, supporting building occupiers activities.

 

As part of the Facilities team, you will work with strategic leads to develop the sites capital roadmap to achieving the Governments net zero challenge and site’s strategic vision.

 

The successful candidate will manage a broad range of projects from Engineering and Construction, including new projects and refurbishments. As an Electrical Engineer you will manage a number of projects from concept to hand over and completion, identifying maintenance and compliance obligations. You will identify project solutions to meet our internal stakeholders requirements, within agreed timescales, budgets and quality standards.

 

Key Accountabilities in this role:

  • Develop and maintain long term strategic plans, which consider future business needs, employee numbers, site facilities and infrastructure requirements.
  • Work closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient implementation of projects.
  • Successfully deliver projects to agreed cost, time and quality constraints, achieving stakeholder goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain documentation and work plans; monitoring results and adjusting work plans to ensure success and achievement of outcome. Identifying and managing project risks.
  • Accountable for delivering the sites maintenance and compliance obligations for site equipment.
  • Actively manage and promote a safety culture through contractor management using the companies permit to work system and adherence to corporate cardinal rules.
  • Demonstrate financial project accumen; preparing budgets, forecasting, scheduling expenditure, analysing variances and initiating corrective actions to manage costs.
  • Recommend and implement changes that contribute to an increase in the operational reliability and performance of services, assets and processes.
  • Identify, monitor and manage End of Life (EOL) strategies for key plant and equipment to maintain site business continuity.
  • Project manage aspects of the long-term plans and / or specific projects as identified in site strategic roadmap.
  • Build relationships to develop long term partnerships with external providers, project sponsors, business leaders and site management.
  • Work closely with project sponsors across site to develop and manage project initiation through to successful delivery and handover.
  • To carry out all duties and projects to meet health and safety requirements, comply with legislation and company procedures to ensure safety of all. 
     

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Be educated to degree level or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
  • Hold a first experience of working in an engineering role.
  • Demonstrate good project management delivery
  • Have a working knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety and Legislation that applies to building regulations and construction design management.
  • Have experience of working with financial processes – budgeting, costing and tenders, cost management and project reporting.
  • Demonstrate that you have experience of managing multiple projects to tight deadlines, with experience of managing stakeholder relationships
  • Good team working and interpersonal skills.
  • Good IT skills (e.g. Word, Excel, MS Project).
  • Proven track record in safety.
