Purpose of the role:

As part of the European Logistics shared services team, the Import Logistics Specialist (m/f/x) will be accountable to work with Lubrizol’s Import planning teams and external carriers to ensure timely delivery of inbound shipments and improve Lubrizol’s import logistics reliability. This function will lead the logistics management for all imports, closely monitor demurrage and detention for all imports and seek opportunities for cost improvements. This function as well will  support regional projects across Business segments in function of existing and future needs. In this newly created role you will be in contact with the various stakeholders in the logistics chain and as such you will have a lot of visibility throughout the organization.

 

 

Essential job functions:

  • Setup process and procedures for inbound logistics operations.
  • Work with various internal and external partners to ensure full release of cargo (Customs release, freight release, etc.) and timely delivery to final destination for all Lubrizol EU Import shipments.
  • Monitor Lubrizol shipments for arrival and ensure to minimize the time of the product left sitting at EU ports or storage yards.
  • Lead the dray carrier’s performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist with selection of core dray carriers.  
  • Provide operation metrics on import logistics activities and drive actions to accelerate the material movement to reduce cycle time.
  • Responsible for reducing detention on Lubrizol import shipments.
  • Lead carrier service and issue resolution.
  • Lead carrier monthly/quarterly reviews.

 

 

Requirements and skills:

  • Operations experience in logistics.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Logistics operations/procurement experience.
  • Prior experience managing carriers and warehouses.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail, ability to prioritize, organize, and follow through is essential.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and professionalism. This position will interface with logistics team members and internal customers and business partners on a regular basis.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in SAP and MS office tools.
  • Enthusiastic, diplomatic and possess excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Team player.
