The main responsibility of this position is to direct all functions of the Maintenance (MAI) Department.  This position focuses on supporting effective/ efficient design, installation of equipment and maintenance of Zhuhai’s assets to help meet customer needs.  This position makes sure that work proceeds in a timely and cost effective manner while meeting/exceeding safety and environmental standards.  He or she is responsible for short and long-term planning.




1.     Manage the development and operation of the MAI enterprise.  Some of these activities include continuous improvement of maintenance and safety procedures, participation in the contract maintenance services bidding and selection process, operation of Central Stores and Maintenance Shops, definition and procurement of spare parts and supplies, contributing to the safe and efficient start-up of new projects and running of the plant, and ownership of SAP Maintenance and Project modules. 


2.     Taking a leadership role in the HSES performance of the Zhuhai Plant.  Activities include: instilling an HSES culture of accountability by implementing the Cardinal Rules policy and requiring rigorous HSES PCM Objectives, participation on relevant safety committees, providing visible leadership by making plant safety contacts, participation in HSES training for yourself and new employees, seeking to improve safety performance via networking with other facilities, implementing appropriate changes to enhance the plant safety culture, insuring compliance with all relevant HSES regulations, directing capital/maintenance projects aimed at improved HSES culture/performance, and working across the Zhuhai entire organization to develop and optimize safety procedures/systems.  


3.     Meeting the financial business objectives of the Zhuhai Plant.  Some of the activities include:  preparing the expense budget, managing expenses within the budgeted amount while at the same time insuring that the plant is maintained in a safe and sound manner, insuring that the plant assets are capable of meeting customer needs, and continuous evaluation for new and innovative methods to reduce expenses.  Manage contract maintenance services in a manner that meets operational/customer needs at minimum cost.


4.     Increasing equipment asset reliability through continuous improvement and implementation of preventive, predictive and reactive maintenance practices in a way that minimizes the cost to manufacture goods.  Providing leadership to lower maintenance costs through implementing maintenance programs and training personnel.  Insure that Lubrizol quality standards are met by the Maintenance Contractor.  Collaborate with other sites regionally and globally to implement Maintenance best practices.


5.     Provide support to the exexecution of capital budgets for the Zhuhai Plant.  Activities include recommending approval of capital projects to the and participating in the process for development of the plant capital plan.  Provide support to oversight on projects so that projects have well defined scopes and budgets.  Provide support to oversight in setting project priorities and insuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.


6.     Develop the MAI Team and personnel.  Instill a results oriented culture of accountability. Participating in the hiring of capable and qualified individuals, recommending personnel for promotion based on capabilities and achievements, approving training for department personnel, drive development of all personnel through the use of the PCM process.  Manage personnel performance issues proactively.  Work with the General Manager on short and long-term organizational development.


7.     Manage maintenance third party and nested contractor effectively.  Activities include:  Driving continuous improvement of contractor HSES capability and work efficiency, optimizing cost of contract services and insuring proper training in Lubrizol procedures are in place for contractors.


8.     Integrate Continuous Improvement tools and behaviors to the Maintenance Team Culture.  This includes use of JI, 5S, KPI Visualization and Leader Standard Work to help drive team performance.


9.     Maintaining a safe, environmentally sound and positive work environment/culture in the Zhuhai Plant that fosters efficiency, effectiveness and good morale.  Insuring that all employees are fully utilized in the most effective manner possible.  Providing proper guidance, direction and tools for the personnel to do their jobs. 


10.  Other duties as assigned.





1) EducationA bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering is required.  An advanced degree in a related field or MBA is a plus.


2) ExperienceTen or more years of related experience in project management, maintenance and/or engineering roles.


3) Knowledge, technical/professional skill:  Knowledge of our SAP enterprise software must be developed.  Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook is required.


4) Language Skill:  Fluent in English and Chinese (written and oral)
