Vice President of Construction and Engineering

 

The VP of Construction and Engineering oversees, directs, and leads all functions of the Lubrizol Construction Department. This includes the structural, electrical, instrumentation, insulation, and mechanical disciplines. Additionally, the VP of Construction and Engineering oversees new facility construction and expansions on a global scale while maintaining facility excellence, driving key business initiatives, and meeting budget goal forecasts.

 

Summary of Responsibilities: 

The VP of Construction and Engineering is responsible for facilitating the overall execution of capital projects across Lubrizol. Responsible to the overall execution of projects, working with the production facilities to allocate resources and planning to complete the jobs safely and on schedule. This position is also responsible to the execution of new project construction globally. 

 

Manage a geographic diverse group of engineers and project managers. Integrate new technologies, lessons learned from previous projects, current regulations, and best practices in safety into new projects.

 

Primary activities include: 

  • Oversees the department to ensure workflow is properly assigned and completed to meet business needs.
  • Maintains budgetary expectations and accurately forecasts need based on facility needs.
  • Working with local leadership and key stakeholders, creates a list of key initiatives to be completed in the coming years and accurately forecasts for work and project completion.
  • Reports out key findings with local leadership and key stakeholders.

  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 10 years of experience in construction project management of projects exceeding $150M in hard costs to include small, medium, and large capital projects. Experience with global construction projects required. 
  • Must have the ability to travel globally up to 30% - 40% of the time.
  • Must have people management/leadership experience. 
  • Knowledge of a variety of mechanical systems, including proper maintenance protocols.
  • Ability to read architectural and engineering drawings and knowledge of CAD design software.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, public speaking, facilitation, and written communication skills.
  • Must be highly independent, capable of making decisions in a dyn­­amic environment.
  • Ability to implement innovative solutions to complex problems through technology, partnerships and leveraging of resources.
  • Ability to assess a wide array of issues and translate into clear and concise plans and/or reports.
  • Project management experience with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced security environment, where confidentiality is critical.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Professional Engineer with license in good standing and active in United States or Country of Residence

 

Considered a plus: 

  • Firm understanding of fire safety systems a plus.
