Position Summary
Provide effective global leadership, management, coordination, and governance in achieving enterprise goals for Employee Health and Safety, Environmental Stewardship, Physical Security, Process Safety, and Responsible Care/ISO management programs. Reports to the Senior Vice President, Global Operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and deployment of global occupational healthy, safety, industrial hygiene, environmental, risk management, and security strategies, policies, standards, and programs that support and advance compliance, drives operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Establish metrics that effectively evaluate and track performance to achieve or exceed company goals.
- Responsible for management of environmental liability and reserves for the company, which includes consultation and strategic support for managing environmental liabilities associated with divestitures, mergers and acquisitions.
- Responsible for direct management of HSES systems that are used enterprise wide. This includes establishing new systems, enhancing existing system elements as required to ensure success of our operating groups in achieving goals.
- Support internal and external data collection, verification, and reporting.
- Responsible for an effective corporate HSES audit program and process, that verifies regulatory and corporate compliance and drives improvement.
- Optimize team development and performance, ensuring a high level of employee performance and engagement while ensuring a diverse and inclusive workforce.
- Leverage synergies and promote integration for aspects of HSES in functional areas.
- Be a thought leader and technical advisor to the global HSES community of practice.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of applicable experience in HSES, with progressive responsibility.
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or related discipline (Master’s Degree/MBA preferred).
- Technical certifications a plus, but not required (i.e., CSP, PE)
- In depth chemical manufacturing experience.
- Knowledge of and involvement with HSES management systems (e.g., RCMS, RC14001, ISO and/or other recognized management systems).
- Must be able to travel globally, up to 30%.
- Position requires strong business skills including effective communication, team building, leading and influencing, resilience and adaptability.
- Have a strong passion in promoting a culture of safety first and environmental stewardship.
- Has the ability to do strategic and innovative thinking, program development and execution.
- Ability to work effectively with senior management as well as associates on the shop floor.
