Job Summary:

The Training Supervisor is responsible for providing orientation, maintaining a consistent training program, conducting select fundamental training to personnel, and coordinating production materials as scheduled


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) performance of the department through compliance and root cause investigations
  • Coordinates PDD production/blending activities (both new and existing products) for R&D and commercial sale
  • Works with Operations Engineer to schedule production, generate batch instructions, coordinate ordering and staging raw materials
  • Coordinate workforce for weekly schedules, training, Fire/EMT, Hazwoper, Vacations, department meetings
  • Maintains consistent and accurate training documentation for all operations personnel within the department
  • Conducts operations employee orientation, provides fundamentals training on select equipment and operating skills, serving as subject matter expert
  • Supports capital projects that add to or modify equipment and support systems
  • Contributes to documentation revisions related to training, department policies and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) 
  • Participates in assigned PSR (Process Safety Reviews), PHA (Process Hazard Analysis) and PSSR (Pre-startup Safety Reviews)
  • Provides resources necessary to authorize Permit required activity (Safe Work, LOTO, Confined Space, Hot Work, Working From Heights)
  • Maintain accurate production chemical inventory and effectively manage with good Lean principles
  • Provide support for continuous improvement and department initiatives
  • Works closely with Operations and Maintenance to coordinate/schedule preventative maintenance and shutdowns
  • Active member of Wickliffe Site Emergency Response Team
  • Additional duties as assigned


Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent from accredited school
  • 5+ years of experience working in chemical manufacturing facility
  • Supervisor or equivalent experience or B Level in current job classification
  • Ability to coach and train all levels of experience and learning styles
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve
  • Excellent Safe work skills and knowledge
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, OneNote)
  • Hands on mechanical and chemical process skills
  • Strong leadership abilities and flexibility in a changing environment
  • Initiative-taker with ability to manage multiple assignments


Considered a Plus:

  • Prior chemical manufacturing experience involving batch, continuous, and filtration operations
  • Experience issuing Hot Work, Line Break, Safe Work Permits to employees and contractors.
  • Prior Supervisory Experience
  • Experience with SAP
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM)
  • Familiar with instrumentation and Control Systems (DeltaV)


Working Conditions:

  • Willing/able to work in a plant environment, outdoors in inclement weather when necessary
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders
  • Willing/able to be on call during nights/weekends as needed
  • Presence of nuisance odors, noise, heavy machinery from chemical processes, testing/laboratories facilities
  • Ability to wear required PPE (including full face respirator)  
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
