Lubrizol’s Industrial segment has been tasked by management to deliver growth.  The Industrial Oils business comprising hydraulic fluids, industrial gear oils, & turbine oils is showing good growth.   A strong technology team is a key contributor to these results.  We currently have a HY technology manager / formulator opening in Wickliffe and are looking for strong candidates who will help us achieve continued growth. 

 

It’s an exciting time to be in the Industrial Oils group and a lot is going on:

 

  • A focus on contributing to Lubrizol's growing sustainable products portfolio, including bio-based hydraulic fluids and industrial fear oils
  • A sustainable business due to low exposure to possible negative impacts of vehicle electrification and strong linkage with positive trends such as global growth in electricity capacity and infrastructure
  • Energy efficiency driver gaining momentum in the hydraulic market; parallels the early days of the fuel economy driver in Engine Oils
  • New internal installations of key hydraulic and industrial gear tests
  • Ability to work closely with Industrial Products’ experienced and influential OEM team
  • Opportunities to work with and learn from other Industrial Specialties businesses and staff

 

The primary purpose of this position is to develop new industrial lubricant formulations for hydraulics, turbine, and industrial gear applications.   The technology manager will also be responsible for representing Lubrizol Industrial Additives technology at the customer interface in partnership with our commercial, sales, and customer program management team.  The role involves technical project management and problem solving.  

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of new lubricant products and global technology platforms
  • Developing fundamental knowledge to improve industrial additives technology
  • Advancing product integrity initiatives
  • Conducting product approval testing programs that meet customer and industry requirements
  • Interacts effectively with Operations, R&D, Testing, commercial partners, and sales to support business objectives
  • Provide technical consulting to commercial, sales, and customer program management community 
  • Estimate and develop project plans (scope, objectives, milestones, resources, and economics)
  • Build and maintain customer relationships to deliver products that meet or exceed their expectations

 

Requirements

  • Degree qualified or equivalent in chemistry or a related technical discipline
  • A minimum of three years of technical experience in industrial lubricants and/or additives, oil, specialty chemical, petrochemical, or mechanical testing industries
  • Strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to develop solutions based on facts, data, and logical assumptions
  • Ability to work effectively in multifunctional, global teams
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision and be self-driven
  • Strong communication skills

 

Considered a Plus

  • Knowledge and interest in Industrial equipment and technology (for example, steel mills, excavators/construction equipment, energy generation)
  • Effective advocacy and influencing skills
  • Proven track record of effective project management and execution
  • Ability to travel as part of role
  • Experience in creating and supporting intellectual property initiatives
