Lubrizol is looking for a strategic and tactical Technical Sustainability Specialist to join our Sustainability Group. In this role, you would be responsible for critical data collection, analysis, validation, presentation and reporting of environmental sustainability metrics. This includes activities associated with greenhouse gases (Scope 1, 2 and 3), air emissions, energy, water, waste and utilities measurements associated with measuring progress against goals and objectives and meeting internal and external reporting obligations. This is a highly visible role, and your ability to collaborate, communicate, and build relationships will be key to your success. 

 

What you will do: 

  • Responsible for data collection, management, and analysis and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions calculations for sustainability environmental reporting, presentations, survey responses (CDP, EcoVadis, Sedex), grants, award applications, regulatory disclosures and verifications.
  • Distilling and summarizing internal and external environmental projects and initiatives to provide support as needed to communicate internally and externally status, progress against environmental goals and objectives and initiatives, including those related to corporate and product footprint impact and reduction, performance and efficiencies across the business, supply chain, product development, capital decisions and external messaging.
  • Optimizing internal procedures and systems, particularly in developing and maintaining proper data collection and reporting controls, given current systems and reporting framework maturity and opportunities for improvements. Assist in the implementation of new environmental systems as needed.
  • Collaboration with stakeholders to understand and advise the impact and applicability of new environmental / sustainability-focused regulations and reporting frameworks.
  • Working with the businesses to support the development of scalable processes to collect and report on greenhouse gas data, targets, roadmaps and solutions.
  • Supporting integration of supplier data into product and business environmental footprint activities, such as life cycle assessments.
  • Maintaining positive, proactive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Staying current with industry trends, benchmarks, and best practices.

 

What you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field that supports the sustainability initiative (Engineering, Environmental Studies, Sustainability), or equivalent related experience
  • Five or more years of relevant experience in a technical, analytical or similar role
  • Experience and knowledge of the GHG Protocol (Scope 1, 2, and 3)
  • Ability to work independently and lead in a team environment
  • Ability to work successfully with internal and external customers in a professional manner
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and address challenges
  • Strong analytical, technical and data management skills
  • Commitment to learn new concepts and industry best practices
  • Be able to communicate and give presentations effectively and professionally with strong writing and editing abilities
  • Be comfortable executing on multiple projects and high-quality deliverables simultaneously with excellent time management skills and sense of prioritization
