The Thermal Management Technical Service Manager provides a competitive advantage for Lubrizol by working with Lubrizol’s customer base to develop, deploy and support technical solutions within the thermal management domain. The technical services manager has accountability for (1) engaging with the customer to commercialize a final product consistent with the customer expectations; (2) technical support for products currently supplied to assigned customers; and (3) technical single point of contact for customer questions. 


Role success factors include project planning, analysis skills, solving problems, drive for results, voice of customer, communication, and building relationships. The successful candidate should have a proven track record of interfacing with external customers, managing multiple technical projects, providing solutions through a network of resources, have strong interpersonal and communications skills, and work well in diverse teams. This is a global role that acts as the technical point person for all needs related to immersion fluids, as well as partners with external customers related to technical issues & concerns.



  • Translates customer needs into technical plan, then leads an internal team to implement that project plan in timely, cost-efficient manner
  • Keeps current on customer needs, patent literature, regulatory issues and industry trends to anticipate new product applications and formulations
  • Optimizes the customer’s final product based on product platform.  Facilitates necessary testing to develop commercialized products for Lubrizol customers
  • Applies and executes project management practices (i.e., developing a project plan, charter, scope, statement of work, cost estimates, schedule, etc.)
  • Provides technical guidance, formulation development, and application problem solving support to resolve field issues for assigned customers and OEM’s; Applies creative and innovative thinking skills to solve problems
  • Partners with account managers to develop strong customer relationships and communicate customer goals to the Lubrizol organization
  • Develops and maintains contact with key suppliers / external test laboratories / vendors to ensure access to newest technologies
  • Communicates with internal and external test laboratories to ensure sufficient resource allocation for business demands
  • Develops and effectively delivers clear technical presentations to internal (Lubrizol) and external (customers, industry) audiences
  • Develops technical training material for distribution to field sales & support organizations



  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of demonstrated success as a key player in an account team
  • 5+ years of experience in external customer interface, managing relationship with technical functions of customers and successfully delivering and implementing technical solutions
  • Demonstrated successful technical trouble-shooting experience
  • Effective project management experience, including project economics  
  • Experience presenting and reporting on project plans and cost benefit analyses to appropriate stakeholders, including capability to interact with executives and senior management
  • Strong presentation skills to showcase technology solutions internally to non-technical functions and to external customers
  • Scientific / analytical skills & strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time and to participate in global discussions as needed
  • Fluent English oral and written communication skills
