Overview:

The Sustainable Procurement Program Manager is responsible for developing and executing a Sustainable Sourcing Program in alignment with Lubrizol’s Corporate, and individual Business sustainability objectives and in accordance with Lubrizol procurement policies and objectives. This includes developing an environmental, social and governance (ESG) sustainability procurement program, supported by meaningful KPIs and goals that enable a sustainable supplier portfolio to drive down the impact raw materials have on product footprint and support our customer needs for sustainable products.

 

Accountability:

This oppotunity is accountable to develop, implement, monitor and promote responsible sourcing practices that support corporate and business strategies and performance. This is a highly visible opportunity requiring significant communication and interaction with all levels of the organization.

 

Essential Duties & Responsiblities: 

  • Develop, implement, and manage Lubrizol’s responsible sourcing program.
  • Develop and monitor meaningful KPIs and metrics to measure and track progress of the sustainable sourcing program.
  • Actively participate on the Corporate Sustainability Council
    • Support the development and prioritization of opportunistic and strategic sustainability strategies, goals, plans and projects through cross-organization understanding of opportunities and objectives.
    • Supports cross-functional teams to achieve sustainable sourcing goals and objectives.
  • Consults with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and external partners to identify opportunities to track and reduce Scope 3 greenhouse gas emission, toxic and banned/regulated component reduction and enable overall product stewardship initiatives.
  • Develops and tracks supplier compliance with Lubrizol’s Supplier Code of Conduct within the supply chain.
  • Supports the businesses to identify and enable procurement of environmentally preferred products and raw materials.
  • Support Life Cycle Assessment activities in the need for data from relevant suppliers
  • Support business unit R&D and Innovation with product comparisons and related analyses to substantiate sustainability related product claims
  • Provide insightful competitive analysis that drives related decision making
  • Provide insight and recommendation to stakeholders regarding green/sustainable product attributes and standards
  • Understand global ESG regulations and expectations related to sourcing and how these apply to Lubrizol sustainability initiatives.

 

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field, extensive experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Five or more years in a chemical manufacturing or R&D environment.
  • Experience with SimaPro, EcoInvent or other LCA software a plus
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and lead in a team environment
  • Ability to work successfully with internal and external customers in a professional manner
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and address challenges
