The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the Wickliffe Site Engineering Team and managing the portfolio of Capital and Expense projects that are executed across the site.  This includes projects in the areas of building construction and maintenance, process engineering, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering.  Responsible for establishing, maintaining and ensuring compliance with engineering, construction and other technical standards that are used to ensure safe, compliant design and execution of such projects across the site and across various departments on the site. Additionally, the Engineering Manager is a member of the Site Management team, working together with the Site Manager, Maintenance, General Services and HSE&S Managers to ensure the effective management of the Wickliffe Corporate Headquarters Facility.  Regular interaction with representatives of the various functional areas operating on the Wickliffe Site (R&D, Testing, Process Development, Corporate groups, etc.) who are stakeholders for the projects managed by the engineering group to ensure alignment on project goals and objectives.




  • Provide leadership and direction to a team of approximately 18 engineers, project managers and designers, enabling the team to perform and deliver results
  • Establish direction, ensure alignment and drive commitment to deliver capital and expense project deliverables
  • Fostering a coaching culture to ensure the growth and development of team members
  • Establish standards for documentation of project work from design through completion
  • Plan, implement and manage annual capital project portfolio of approximately $10MM annually, review status and progress with internal stakeholders and work with other corporate functions (purchasing, IS, Legal, etc.) to address roadblocks and issues.
  • Lead by example and be an ambassador for Lubrizol’s cultural beliefs
  • Collaborate with operating group managers to achieve alignment with business goals and ensure satisfaction with engineering service delivery
  • Coordinate with HSES, Maintenance and Operations Teams to provide technical expertise, knowledge and resources to provide engineering services
  • Participate as SME in audits and process safety assessments
  • Champion initiatives that ensure a safe and respectful workforce, emphasizing active employee engagement in working and behaving safely 24/7
  • Integral member of the Wickliffe Site Management Team, participating in the strategic planning, implementation and delivery of services supporting the Lubrizol Corporation Global Headquarters location


Skills, Experience, and Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical or electrical engineering.  Advanced engineering degree is a plus.
  • Professional Engineer certification is a plus.
  • Project management experience in an industrial environment.
  • 5 years or more of management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and influence safety in the workplace.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent listening skills.  Communicate effectively to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Experienced in prioritizing projects and initiatives and managing customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve technical and process-related problems.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and conflict management skills.
  • Experienced with developing vision and strategic planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to get work done through others and ability to work effectively with other departments and divisions.
  • Proven track record of successfully coaching and developing talent.


Decision Making


  • Responsible for Wickliffe site capital budget development and management.  Evaluate and authorize approvals for expense and capital purchases.
  • Responsible for approximately 18 employees in the management of resources and staffing decisions to address customer needs and employee development needs.

Working Conditions


  • Requires infrequent domestic travel.
  • Requires use of appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to fulfill safety requirements.
