Lubrizol's Internal Communications leader is responsible for developing internal communications strategies which optimizes the engagement of Lubrizol’s 8,500 employees globally by providing enhanced visibility to our company culture and increased understanding of our company’s vision and business priorities. In this role, you will work with a variety of internal stakeholders to develop and execute enterprise-wide communication strategies, including employment branding initiatives, routine and ad-hoc business communications intranet optimization, newsletters, etc.You will also be part of the corporate communications leadership team and will partner closely with colleagues in external communications and executive communications to develop and deliver cohesive strategies to the organization.


This position is ideal for a candidate who has a bias for action, is comfortable in a highly ambiguous environment and who has a demonstrated ability to actively engage with and have a finger on the pulse of the business, turning their findings into content that can be used across a wide variety of channels. Ideally, this role would follow a hybrid working model at our Global Headquarters in Wickliffe, Ohio, but is open to a remote position anywhere in the US where Lubrizol operates.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute internal communications strategies focused on driving employee engagement and business priorities. This includes but is not limited to key messaging, presentations, organizational announcements, events, newsletter, and executive communications.
  • Build and maintain relationships with a diverse set of internal stakeholders to increase visibility and improve the quality of communications throughout the organization with an emphasis on communicating the right information to the right audience at the right time.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders within creative and HR to develop and execute an employer brand that works to position Lubrizol and an employer of choice.
  • Drive new approaches to deliver efficient, effective communications; finds effective ways to benchmark best practices, challenge processes and recommend new approaches.
  • Plan and execute initiatives that inform employees and cultivate engagement.
  • Collaborates with colleagues within our media team and social/digital teams to ensure a holistic channel approach.   
  • Regularly measure effectiveness of the team’s communication channels to ensure we’re maximizing resources.
  • Provide strategic communications counsel to global business leaders
  • Leads a diverse and global team, understanding generational needs, cultural differences and demonstrating commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Drives team success through coaching and personal development plans - establishes a vision, sets goals, and defines a strategy for achieving established goals and continuously improves the team’s talent position; ensures engagement and alignment of both direct and indirect reports.
  • Partners, influences and gains acceptance of leaders through effective and crisp communications, relevant and insightful analysis, creative thinking and a results orientation.


Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in communications
  • Demonstrated ability to translate highly complex, technical content into concise and impactful stories
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong working relationships with senior leaders and influence key stakeholders


Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business or communications-related field
  • Experience managing and leading a team
