In this role, you’ll manage product control laws and product regulatory compliance strategies with a focus on the Unites States’ Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA).   You will provide expert regulatory compliance guidance and support to all businesses to ensure compliance and enable commercialization of new products/technology in a timely manner.  The role requires the synthesis of expert knowledge of company chemistry and businesses, global chemical control regulations, systems and processes to establish compliance and to meet Lubrizol’s Ethical and Legal Conduct guidelines.

 

Note: This position can be located at our WIckliffe, Ohio, Brecksville, Ohio office or Remote.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads and manages strategic TSCA compliance activities for the corporation in the assigned region. 
  • Completes U.S. Pre-manufacturing Notifications (PMNs) along with other New Chemical Notifications (NSNs) and application registrations to gain regulatory clearance for the import, manufacture, and/or use of new and existing chemistry and products to enable business growth
  • Negotiates with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other regulatory authorities directly and through use of consultants to streamline approvals, answer questions, and resolve issues
  • Proactively identifies and resolves potential product compliance issues, consistent with Lubrizol’s Ethical and Legal Conduct Guidelines, to minimize impact on manufacture and sale of products
  • Participates in inspections by regulatory authorities; answers questions and resolves any identified non-conformities
  • Maintains expert knowledge of regional and other chemical control regulations
  • Provides expert consultative services to global business and R&D organizations on compliance strategies for new and existing products; conduct detailed chemical inventory status determinations
  • Proactively monitors, evaluates business impact, and communicates new and amended legislation and regulations 
  • Participates in regional trade associations to influence adoption of best practices in chemical regulatory advocacy programs critical to Lubrizol business success

 

Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications                         

  • BS, MS, or PhD degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • At least 7 years of experience in a regulatory discipline or having other relevant industrial experience
  • Strong knowledge of organic chemistry
  • Expert knowledge and experience in product regulatory management including highly specialized areas of global chemical control laws with a focus on U.S. TSCA
  • Substantial knowledge of related fields of global hazard communication, transportation regulations, and toxicology
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of the businesses supported including chemistry, product lines, markets served, business strategies, and business processes
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working in a team environment
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and appropriately manage priorities for self and global organization
  • Detail-oriented and results-driven
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with computer relational databases and common business-related computer software programs
