<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">The Process Technology and Sourcing (PTS) Team for LZA Small Molecules is in need of a Process Development Engineer.  The Small Molecule Team manages over 200 different intermediates and operates in support of our global manufacturing network, including manufacturing locations in the USA, France, Germany, India, and others.

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Process Development Engineers work in the Wickliffe Pilot Plant and are primarily responsible for scaling up new products as well as ongoing support/improvement of existing products and processes. 

 

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Duties, Responsibilities

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Learn Small Molecule chemistry and apply knowledge to all projects
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Establish/Utilize working contacts with Chemical Synthesis (R&D), Production, and Business Segments
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Lead multi-functional teams with a wide variety of experience and background
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Develop and execute experimental designs to investigate processing problems or improvements
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Plan pilot scale experiments with effective use of time and available resources
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Write pilot-scale batch sheets, closely follow batches in progress, and fully evaluate batch results
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Provide on-site or on-call support outside of normal working hours, as needed
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Present project status updates and clearly communicate goals, progress, and results
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Plan, organize, and support manufacturing trials
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Provide support for economic justification of capital projects and process improvements
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Author technical reports with full documentation of product development activities
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Write technology transfer reports for manufacture of Small Molecule components at manufacturing plants
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Comply with applicable internal and external health, safety, and environmental policies
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Some domestic and international travel required, depending on the projects assigned

 

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Requirements

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Self-starter with ability to manage multiple projects
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Background with experimental design and data analysis
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Strong technical writing skills

 

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Considered a Plus

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Experience in pilot-scale or commercial-scale process engineering
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Experience in a commercial manufacturing facility involving both batch and continuous systems
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Experience in manufacturing scale filtration
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Familiarity with business management software (SAP)
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Familiarity with technical software (PI ProcessBook, Statgraphics, VBA, Aspen or other process simulation tools)
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Strong Excel, PowerPoint, and/or SharePoint skills
