Fabrication and Maintenance Mechanic – Lubrizol Wickliffe, OH

The Role             

The Research, Development, and Testing Department for The Lubrizol Corporation supports the development and testing of current and future lubrication needs for the automotive industry and beyond.

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the fabrication and installation of mechanical testing systems, as well as the inspection, evaluation, and repair of all processing and utility equipment in the laboratories.  Equipment will include, but is not limited to: piping, valves, pumps, compressors, reactors / pressure vessels, low pressure storage tanks, agitators, and material handling equipment.  Assigned tasks will include working on fired engines, associated testing equipment, and bench top testing for various chemicals.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize experience and knowledge to assist others within the Mechanical Testing Department develop the best solutions to challenges and emerging issues.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance as well as troubleshooting for mechanical equipment and engine/driveline test rigs and utilities.
  • Lead and assist in the fabrication, construction, installation, and modifications of testing equipment and lab utilities.
  • Perform welding for mechanical equipment, structural and piping applications.
    • SMAW (Stick), MIG, TIG
  • Perform soldering and brazing for plumbing.
  • Perform metal fabrication with a variety of metals.
  • Work independently and/or in a team setting depending on jobs/tasks.
  • Perform all work to a high standard of safety including confined space entry, hot work, lock out/tag out, and working from heights.
  • Ability to use forklifts and aerial lifts for equipment and working at heights.

Requirements

About You

We are looking for a design-oriented fabricator who has experience in welding, fabrication, and troubleshooting in an industry/plant-based setting.  You will be working on preventive maintenance, utility upgrades, and teaming with engineers and project managers to provide support to our development and testing laboratories.  You will work with different fabrication and welding techniques to support lubrication testing needs, upgrades, and repairs.  You will be responsible for the timely completion of preventive maintenance items.  You will demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment with shifting priorities as testing needs change.  You will perform all work in a safe and timely manner in accordance with our Health and Safety Department.
