Lubrizol - North America (US) – Compensation Specialist

 

Lubrizol’s Human Resources (HR) division includes over 100 employees that provide HR expertise to maximize the contributions of Lubrizol’s people.  Currently, we are engaged in a multi-year HR Transformation project.  The HR Transformation project will enable changes to the HR division’s structure, work processes and technology on a global, regional and country level and provide the foundation to achieve world-class HR performance. 

 

As the HR Transformation project progresses, the Total Rewards team at Lubrizol has an opening position for a Compensation Specialist.  This role provides professional guidance, coordination, and support in the effective and consistent application of LZ Compensation philosophy. Administers and maintains various compensation-related initiatives, and coordinates and facilitates implementation of corporate-level compensation programs. Provides advice, training, and support to Human Resources Business Partners and the Site HR, as appropriate, in the application of compensation management principles, guidelines, procedures, and best practices.

 

Role Responsibilities

 

  • Acts as initial primary contact to resolve issues, review day to day compensation changes outside of manager's authority; provides coaching and guidance to HRBPs and Site HR for communicating Compensation programs and processes.
  • Administers step progressions programs and assists with preparing communications for annual compensation review and individual compensation decisions: Deploys timeline and activities, including tools and training material.
  • Provides research, analysis and resolutions on existing Compensation issues and provides analysis and recommendations on closed issues for continuous improvement.
  • Assists the Global Compensation Team administering compensation surveys and salary structures.
  • Administers Job Descriptions repository; audits quality of Job Descriptions and advises improvements.
  • Prepares systems for annual processes:
    • Loads salary budget / adjusted salary ranges, variable pay plans, etc.
    • Configures and tests systems for annual adjustments
    • Completes system and data updates for new and changed program.
  • Validates transmission of compensation adjustments, variable pay plans etc., to payroll and 3rd parties.

 

  • Runs calculations, such as bonus / incentive and payouts for groups and individuals and audits / resolves discrepancies and provides data to finance for accruals.

 

 

 

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or similar or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of HR experience
  • 1-2 years in a Compensation COE or HR Shared Services environment (preferred)
  • Ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion
  • Attention to detail, initiative, creativity.

 

Considered a Plus

 

  • Professional compensation certification(s)
  • Experience with HR systems (SAP-HCM, Success Factors)
