Business Development – Business Development Manager, Industrial

Accountability Statement

Provide strategic Business Development expertise to the Industrial Business Development team, in support of pipeline, chosen business development projects and investment cases (including M&A and new domains) that will position Industrial for long-term sustainable growth. 


Strategic Business Development Manager for the Industrial Business Development team. Responsible for developing relationships at select partners, customers & suppliers, and identifying, evaluating and leading the execution of new opportunities for Lubrizol to create new revenue streams, while enabling Lubrizol to share in the value created. To provide support of investment cases/business cases that will enable transformational growth. 


 Key Responsibilities 

  • Business development advisor for all assessments/projects within Industrial Business Development; including engaging and liaising with internal and external experts and resources to ensure thorough business evaluation
  • Identify and develop key projects supporting our global business development strategy. Responsible for origination, development and implementation of new projects, to point of billing or hand off to other business units
  • Cultivate opportunities to develop sustainable and differentiated Industrial strategies and new business model offerings 
  • Main point of contact for selected business development projects
  • Inform and advise Industrial leadership team on active projects leading to go/no-go results
  • Collaborate and support the development of business cases for projects, potential investments and acquisitions
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders, management, and potential acquisition candidates  
  • Regularly scan the environment, evaluating industry trends and assessing business impact 
  • Provide analysis and interpretation of trends to stakeholders highlighting the impact to the business and the opportunities/threats presented
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure activity alignment for project delivery
  • Create and manage “virtual teams”, of required resources and different functions (e.g. finance, IS, product development) often without formal authority to deliver on business development project goals

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in engineering or business management related roles
  • 5+ years of related industry experience - Lubricants, Additives or Industrial Fluids
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or other engineering related disciplines or business
  • Leadership experience - leading or coordinating cross functional teams
  • Experience calling on equipment manufacturers
  • Travel required up to 25%
