Due to several exciting opportunities, we are looking for an Engineer to join our Applied Research group within our global Research and Development division. The Applied Research group is a global multidisciplinary team of chemical engineers, mechanical engineers, and chemists who are accountable for providing technical solutions for a range of R&D initiatives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Collaborates with research colleagues and internal customers to meet technical business needs.
  • Performs a wide range of test procedures and experiments related to existing and future technical applications.
  • Understands the underlying operating principles and seek to reduce variability of test procedures, equipment and instruments.
  • Generates, analyzes and interprets test data, provides conclusions and prepares the results into reports.
  • Applies engineering skills and knowledge in the development and validation of new tests and test procedures.
  • Handles multiple projects simultaneously and prioritizes the necessary internal laboratory work to support changing needs.
  • Reviews project performance at milestones and accepts accountability to deliver upon agreed results.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves problems in test processes or procedures where causes are not obvious.
  • Provides regular updates to internal colleagues on technical and project achievements, barriers and issues.
  • Understands and practices basic statistical techniques and applies them to experimental design and data analysis.
  • Fully commits to safety in all aspects of work, including following all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping, performing equipment and laboratory inspections and contributing to safety improvements.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials or Electrical or related Engineering discipline
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to conduct data analysis and provide conclusions and/or recommendations for improvement.  Provide clear, concise and timely reports reviewing the pertinent details, status and results.
  • Good teamwork, customer service and leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel as required.


Considered a plus:

  • Up to 5 years of industry or research experience.
  • Knowledge of transportation (automotive, engine, and/or driveline) technologies.
  • Knowledge of heat transfer, energy generation and energy storage.
  • Experience with data acquisition and control systems.
