Account Manager


Job Mission

  •  The Account Manager is responsible for growing our sales/market share of the Lubricant Additives Segment within Lubrizol.  The exact size, scope and region of your territory hinges on your capabilities.  The Lubricant Additives Segment focusses on the development of technologies and solutions to help our customers grow in a highly valued market
  • The  Account Manager represents a wide range of Lubrizol products and services to assigned customers while leading the customer account planning cycle and ensuring assigned customers’ needs and expectations are met.  


Key Job Accountabilities

  • Establishes productive, professional relationships with key Personnel and functions in assigned customer accounts.
  • Coordinates the involvement of company personnel, including support, service, and management resources in order to meet account performance objectives and customers’ expectations.
  • Meets assigned targets for profitable sales volume and strategic objectives in assigned accounts
  • Proactively leads a joint company-strategic account planning process that develops mutual performance objectives, financial targets, and critical milestones for a one and three-year period.
  • Proactively assesses, clarifies, and validates customer needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Leads solution development efforts that best address customer needs, while coordinating the involvement of all necessary company personnel


Key Duties:

  • Manage a customer base - building credibility and trust to position Lubrizol for sustainable, incremental revenue growth within the automotive, industrial, and consumer markets.
  • Teach customers on how best compete in today’s challenging market place and tailor messages to key decision makers across the customer’s organization.
  • Understand the value drivers of key customers in order to sell Lubrizol solutions.
  • Collaborate with the worlds leading Technical, Operational, and Market driven Additives Company.



  • Bachelor’s degree
    • Must have a strong technical aptitude – the ability to understand technical solutions and apply to changing market requirements
  • 3+ years of successful experience selling specialty chemicals overcoming barriers to purchase
  • Proven track record of year-over-year sales growth
  • Is comfortable talking to a wide range of decision influencers
  • Willing and able to travel 30% (overnight)
  • MBA a plus
