Supervisor Experience Level: Early to Mid-level Supervisor

Education Required: Associate's Degree

Reports to: Operations Manager

Direct Reports: Team of 3-5 Productions Leads. Indirect management of 40 production employees.


The Production Supervisor is a member of the Operations Team reporting directly to the Operations Manager.  The Production Supervisor is accountable for allocating resources for production at the Victor, Montana site, managing departmental safety, and development of manufacturing employees.  This position implements policies/procedures and ensures safe work conditions for employees.  The Production Supervisor ensures that products are produced to the customer specifications and meet quality requirements. Primary responsibility for oversight of production at the Victor site, and back-fill for Production Supervisor at the Hamilton, Montana site.


 Essential Duties

  • Monitoring employees’ daily manufacturing for quality, conforming product.
  • Works closely with the Shipping, Purchasing and Quality departments to ensure that customer orders are shipped in a timely manner.
  • Managing performance efficiencies and performance of employee workforce through effective communication and timely performance management. Track attendance and manage employee schedules.
  • Work with engineering and manufacturing to diagnose manufacturing problems and recommending corrective and preventive actions.
  • Plans, promotes, and organizes training activities related to product quality and cleanroom practices.
  • Understanding and implementing employees follow the SOP’s/MOP’s pertaining to the specific area.
  • Ensures employee training records are accurate and kept up to date.
  • Performs or coordinates training effectiveness verification.
  • Works on yields maximization and efficiencies within specific area.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement with the employees through regular performance feedback.
  • Develop Production Leads to take a leadership role with their assigned teams, including performance reviews, development/training of teams.


Qualification Requirements

  • Successful completion of 4 years of high-school and 2 years of college, with a concentration in manufacturing, business, operations, or engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production work environment preferred, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • MRP background/knowledge preferred (QAD).
  • Ability to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals.
  • Flexible to change and possess a high degree level of integrity and “can do attitude”.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with effective human interaction skills.
  • Good organizational skills, and ability to direct work flow in a busy clean room environment.
  • Ability to receive and provide instructions in a positive manner.


Base Wage:         $45,000 annually

The Montana site for Lubrizol is located in the heart of the Bitterroot Valley of Western Montana, within Ravalli County. Surrounded by the Bitterroot and Sapphire mountain ranges, the Valley provides scenic views and immediate access to the Anaconda-Pintler and Selway-Bitterroot wilderness areas.
