The Montana site of Lubrizol is a leading medical device manufacturing facility. We create custom medical devices through silicone fabrication from our ISO 13485 certified facilities. Our products consist of silicone tissue expanders, sheeting, patches, and other silicone medical devices. We take pride in the quality of our products and maintain quality staff on our team.

We have several ISO 7 and ISO 8 certified clean rooms within our campus. Our controlled environment allow for multiple line operations to occur efficiently without compromising on quality.

POSITION SUMMARY:                                                         

The Manufacturing Engineering Intern is responsible for providing technical support to manufacturing, obtaining and providing data for the manufacturing engineering team, and participating in assigned projects. The employee is also responsible for engaging in learning opportunities based on a broad scope of manufacturing engineering tasks.

 

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provides technical assistance to the manufacturing floor, to ensure timely delivery of product while meeting customer expectations on cost and quality.
  • Conducts assigned experiments and process trials. Documents results in a systematic and thorough manner.
  • Participates in process improvement to enhance productivity and meet customer expectations on cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Supports the design and build of process aids and equipment.
  • Executes validation and qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) protocols for new equipment, processes, and products.
  • Completes assignments in an efficient manner. Keeps immediate supervisor and designated others accurately informed concerning work progress.
  • Creates/supports manufacturing process documentation, to include drawings, manufacturing procedures, operator work instructions, and troubleshooting guides.

 

ADDITIONALLY ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Demonstrates flexibility and cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors at all times.

HIRING GUIDELINES:

  • Successful completion of four years of high school, or equivalent, plus some additional specialized training.
  • Over two years and up to five years of experience in manufacturing or laboratory environment, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Demonstrate ability to understand technical drawings.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices and Lean Manufacturing (preferred).

  • Flexible to change and possesses a high degree level of integrity and “can do attitude.”
  • Willing to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demand level for this job is considered medium with frequent lifting between 10-25 pounds and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Exposure to lifting more than 50 pounds is rare (if ever).

 

The employee may frequently be subject to dynamic standing/walking and use hands to finger/handle/touch with occasional exposure to static standing/sitting, pushing/pulling (less than 50lb of force), floor to knuckle lift/lower (less than 50lbs), knuckle to shoulder lift/lower(less than 50lbs), shoulder to overhead lift/lower (less than 50lbs), climb/balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach above shoulders and repetitive bending or squatting, sustained bending and use foot/feet to operate machine.

 

The following vision requirements apply: Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The employee will occasionally be exposed to working near moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, and travel on company business with rare (if ever) to wet humid conditions, working in high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold or heat, outdoor weather conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level is considered moderate (business office with computers, printers, and light traffic).

 

The employee will be required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as: safety glasses in the designated areas, hairnet/beard net, gloves when handling hot objects or solvents, jumpsuit, and earplugs (when needed) on production floor.

 

TOOLS/EQUIPMENT/COMPUTER SOFTWARE:

The employee will constantly use PC with Microsoft Office products and engineering software with occasional use of QAD (or similar ERP system) and various internet based websites (such as Private Bank or Fidelity—or similar websites).

Lubrizol Montana is located in the heart of the Bitterroot Valley of Western Montana, within Ravalli County. Surrounded by the Bitterroot and Sapphire mountain ranges, the Valley provides scenic views and immediate access to the Anaconda-Pintler and Selway-Bitterroot wilderness areas. Our location allows for almost immediate access to the Clark Fork and Bitterroot Rivers, hiking, fishing, camping, rock climbing, hunting, snowmobiling, and skiing at Lost Trail Pass or Snowbowl Resorts. Our location is also a short distance from Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park.  We have two locations within the Bitterroot Valley. Our primary location is just south of Victor and the second site is located in Hamilton, Montana
