ACCOUNTABILITY:

 

The TPU Pilot line Leader is accountable for providing daily floor Process Technology (PT) operations to the Song Jiang TPU pilot plant including pilot line 4, compounding line 3 and pilot reactor. Supporting PT pilot line supervisor to continuously improve the PT pilot facilities’ safety performance, efficiency and effectiveness of personnel, equipment reliability. Providing training to pilot line technicians and enhancing their operation skills.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Pilot Line Leader

  • Ensure safe operations by observing all Health, Safety, Environmental and Security (HSES) procedures and coaching employees on safe work practices this includes guiding people through the permitting process (e.g., LOTO, hot work, working from heights, confined space).
  • Assist in incident/near miss investigations happened in pilot lines to determine root-cause(s) and implement corrective actions. 
  • Keep improving pilot line facilities reliability by working closely with maintenance team to ensure good support on equipment and fixtures, monitoring the PM status for key equipment. Support scheduling of maintenance activities
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to technicians according to the pilot line production plan, providing clear instructions and guidance to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and in accordance with established procedures and standards.
  • Train new employees on safety protocols, pilot line SOP, and quality standards.
  • Develop and coach pilot line technicians to improve their skills and performance. includes supporting supervisor to conduct technician’s annual PCM reviews, career development discussions, safety and cultural discussion and providing timely feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records of production data, such as output, downtime, and waste, and prepare reports for management to analyze performance and make informed decisions.
  • Maintain the shift schedule while managing vacation requests and overtime.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S and other ongoing programs. Complete monthly 5S audit sheets per corporate policy. Organize routine Leader Standard Work (LSW) and HPI engagement.
  • Participate in pre-run planning meetings.

 

REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS:

 

  • Education Background:
  • College Degree or above in Chemistry or Mechanical or related field

 

  • Technical Skills:
  • Willingness to lead by example in adherence in all safety rules and processes
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Time management abilities to prioritize tasks.
  • Knowledge of production processes, equipment, and materials used in the manufacturing or industrial sector.
  • Proficient in problem-solving and decision-making, with the ability to resolve production issues promptly.
  • Effective communication skills to in team and other departments.
  • Knowledge of process, laboratory, and mechanical operations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PLC / DCS systems (Proficiency in DeltaV preferred)
  • Computer skills with knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office software.

 

 

  • Other Experiences Preferred:
  • Minimum of 5 years Chemical plant operations experience
  • Shift leader experience
  • Basic English communication by mail or verbal
  • Experience in Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) chemistry and extrusion processing is preferred.
