Position Summary

The Technical Service Scientist will provide advanced technical support to customers and internal stakeholders in the development of food supplements and solid oral dosage forms (tablets) for the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical markets. This role acts as a technical interface between R&D, Sales, Regulatory, and customers, supporting formulation development, troubleshooting, scale‑up, and application of functional ingredients.

The position requires strong hands‑on formulation expertise, customer‑facing experience, and the ability to translate customer needs into technically robust, compliant, and scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Formulation Support

• Develop, optimize, produce and troubleshoot formulations for food supplements and pharmaceutical tablets, including immediate‑release and functional solid, semi-solid and liquid dosage forms.
• Provide technical support to customers throughout the product development cycle, from concept and prototype to scale‑up and commercialization.
• Conduct laboratory work including formulation trials, performance testing, and comparative benchmarking.
• Support customers in ingredient selection, processing parameters, excipient functionality, and formulation robustness.
• Analyze technical issues and propose scientifically sound solutions based on formulation, processing, and raw material interactions.

Customer & Industry Support

• Act as a technical expert and trusted advisor in customer meetings, technical presentations, and project discussions.
• Support customer visits, trials, and problem‑solving activities, both on‑site and remotely.
• Collaborate closely with Sales and Marketing to support technical positioning of ingredients and technologies.
• Prepare technical reports, formulation guidelines, and application documentation for internal and external use.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

• Work in close collaboration with Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing, and R&D teams to ensure formulations meet regulatory and quality requirements for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical markets.
• Support technology transfer, scale‑up activities, and manufacturing troubleshooting when required.
• Contribute to innovation projects, new application development, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure all development activities comply with GMP principles, internal procedures, and applicable regulatory guidelines.
• Maintain accurate documentation of formulations, test results, and project activities.
• Support preparation of technical data packages for customer and regulatory use.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or related field.
• Post‑graduate studies or specialization in Pharmaceutical Technology, Formulation, or related fields are an advantage.

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in formulation development and technical service for:
• Food supplements and/or nutraceuticals
• Pharmaceutical solid dosage forms (tablets), liquids, semi, solids, gummies, etc. 
• Proven experience supporting customers and industrial partners in a technical or application role.
• Hands‑on experience with excipients, actives, and processing relevant to tablet development.

Technical Competencies

• Strong knowledge of solid dosage form formulation, excipient functionality, and processing principles.
• Experience with laboratory equipment and formulation testing relevant to tablets and supplements.
• Understanding of pharmaceutical and nutraceutical regulatory frameworks.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical customer solutions.

Soft Skills & Languages

• Strong communication and presentation skills, with confidence in customer‑facing interactions.
• Analytical thinking and structured problem‑solving approach.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
• Fluent English (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus.

Travel

• Willingness to travel occasionally to support customers, internal meetings, and technical events in South Latino America
