Chemtool Incorporated in Rockton, Illinois is currently recruiting for a Regulatory Specialist to join the Regulatory team. This is a highly cross-functional position with regular communications with and influence on business commercial units, R&D, procurement, supply chain, operations, legal, and finance. This position will also complement the team in performing actions associated with the global product regulatory and hazard communication assessments of all Chemtool commercial raw materials, intermediates and products as it relates to the authoring of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and labels supporting the global hazard communication and compliance requirements of the Corporation.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct chemistry composition determinations and health hazard assessments of new raw materials, manufactured intermediates and products in the SDS and compliance management system.
  • Communicate the regulatory status or raw materials, manufactured and products to internal stakeholders
  • Support transportation classification, PPE, and handling assessments of products, raw materials and experimental products.
  • Complete raw material approvals and material equivalency determinations for all new and reformulated materials and vendors, globally, to ensure compliance.  Work with procurement, master data, and manufacturing planning organizations to implement recommendations.
  • Contribute directly to projects to maintain compliance with ever changing global hazard communication and compliance regulations and related regulatory requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Toxicology, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering or EHS directly related field from an accredited college or university
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working in a team environment
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and appropriately manage priorities
  • Detail oriented, strong organizational skills, and results driven
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Considered a plus:

  • Advanced degree in Chemistry or related field / Educational background or practical experience focused on synthetic organic or polymer chemistry
  • 1+ years of experience in the chemical regulatory field
  • Knowledge and experience in REACh and global chemical control laws
  • Practical experience in global hazard communication and transportation classification within the chemical industry related to SDSs and labeling
  • Knowledge and experience using integrated software applications and/or industry SDS authoring system (SAP's EHS module / Intelligent Authoring)
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Excel and Project Management tools
