Quality Manager


Job Summary:

  • The Quality Manager's role is to provide oversight and leadership to the Pedricktown QC Lab to ensure Safety, Quality, and Production Requirements are met. This opportunity also includes oversite of the facility's ISO 9001 & ISO14000, cGMP programs, and customer interaction. The Quality Manager also involves identifying and leadership of initiatives to improve the performance and reliability of existing QC equipment and people development. Lastyly, the Quality Manager will collaborate with the Global Quality groups for LLS and PCG to implement product introductions and specification changes and provides ideas for QC-focused improvements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight to QC lab, ensuring that QC targets are met. Training, coaching, and career planning to develop each member of the QC Laboratory team to their full potential.
  • Supervise shift lab techs with direction for coaching, training, utilization, and progressive discipline for technicians. Must be experienced in coaching, teaching, and reinforcing quality assurance principles in a chemical plant operation.
  • Manage the site's ISO9000 & ISO140001 standards. Maintain the systems needed to retain certification, including the document control system, preventive and corrective action system, and the internal auditing function
  • Leads continuous improvement initiatives in the areas of quality, cost-efficiency, and test method. Is a key contributor to the ISO Corrective and Preventative Action process.
  • Work in conjunction with the Pedricktown Management Team to meet our customers' needs. Generate solutions and direct activities to resolve quality problems. 
  • Actively participates in site safety systems.
  • Maintains site and corporate Key Performance Indicators related to QC target. Acts upon underlying adverse trends.
  • Interacts with SAP and Business Objectives to input and extract data relevant to the role.
  • Facilitates responses to Customer Complaints
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager


Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Science degree. 


Experience Required:

  • 5 – 10 years’ experience in a chemical or process industry, plant analytical laboratory, or R&D environment.

  • Knowledge:
    • Knowledge of Basic understanding of analytical techniques, statistical techniques, and Quality Philosophies.
    • Familiar with ISO 9001 systems and procedures.  cGMP experience is a plus.


  • Skills:
    • IT Skills; use of SAP; Proficient in Microsoft Office (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
    • Ability to operate equipment in the area: gas & liquid chromatography, pH meters, analytical balances, Spectrophotometer, FTIR, Viscometer, Colorimeter, Particle Size Analyzer general laboratory supplies, housekeeping equipment, and safety equipment.
    • Ability to manage resources and priorities.
    • Ability to gather, analyze and present data to help drive continuous improvement; the job holder will be able to make well-reasoned decisions and will be able to present facts in a logically coherent manner.
    • Good organizational skills, motivational and influential; to bring out the best in others

The Pedricktown Lubrizol site is located in rural Oldmans Township, NJ.  Pedricktown is a very quaint, rural town where locally you can find the Cowtown Rodeo, which is known as “The oldest weekly running rodeo in the USA.” Although it is rural, it is close to many major cities and attractions. Philadelphia, the birthplace of our nation, is only 30 minutes away - home to the Constitution Center, Liberty Bell, and the world-renowned Art Museum where the famous scene from Rocky was shot on the museum steps.  Philly is also home to many first-class hospitals and top-tier colleges & universities.  It is also known for its bustling night life and restaurants. Philadelphia was named #3 on the “NY Times 52 Places To Go in 2015” list. New York is about 2 hours from Pedricktown – you can either drive there or get there easily by train.  New York is widely known for its first-run plays on Broadway, as well as Times Square.  Pedricktown is also conveniently located about 90 minutes from Baltimore, MD and 20 minutes from Delaware, which is home to the newly-renovated Wilmington Riverfront. In addition to city attractions, we are located about 2-1/2 hours from the Pocono Mountains, which is a great place to ski and snowboard, and less than 2 hours from the Atlantic Ocean with its beautiful white-sand beaches and Atlantic City with its numerous casinos.
