The Training Coordinator / Instructor is responsible for providing orientation and select functional training to Painesville personnel to instill and develop a strong "manufacturing mindset" in those to whom instruction is given.  This is done by:


•    Providing orientation and instructional courses for new employees
•    Coaching the hands-on practice of skills 
•    Engaging with Manufacturing, Operations Support, and Asset Services stakeholders to stay current with site practices
•    Receiving feedback and continuing to improve the programs and content we deliver. 

 

The Training Instructor demonstrates consistent and best work practices to set the foundation for how chemical processing, safe work, and basic functional skills should be practiced throughout the site. 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides training at the Training Center to the Painesville plant in accordance with established standards and content 
  • Acts as a subject matter expert in a variety of chemical manufacturing topics and provide expertise and guidance to related activities.
  • Promotes a positive work culture that fosters safety and compliance to procedures, policies, and work instructions
  • Provides training and mentoring to new hires in safety, company policy, procedures, work instructions, fork lift, packer related skills along with manufacturing topics through hands-on and classroom based learning.
  • Initiates opportunities for strategic and tactical improvements within the department.
  • Provides support to the Continuous Improvement and Training Superintendent as needed
  • Maintains records of training provided by the department
  • Supports the overall HSE&S performance of the Painesville Plant
  • Maintains honest and open communications, a good working environment and culture.
  • Ensures diversity within the department is promoted, respected, and valued.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
     

Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience                              

  • High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Experience with Human Performance Improvement (HPI) or related program, LEAN manufacturing & Continuous Improvement
  • Must have Fall Protection certification from The Bureau of Worker’s Compensation or other accrediting institution or be willing to obtain upon employment
  • Excellent safe work skills and knowledge
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational & math skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to coach and train personnel and demonstrate flexibility
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve

 

Considered a plus:                             

  • Manufacturing operator experience a plus
  • Experience in a chemical plant
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • SAP skills
  • Any additional specialized training or certification(s)

 

Working Conditions                       

  • Work is performed within a controlled environment; noise levels in some areas require hearing protection
  • Must be willing/able to work in a plant environment.  Must be able to climb stairs. 
  • Must be able/willing to be exposed to inclement weather while moving throughout the plant during the workday as required.
  • Ability to wear required PPE
