The Lubrizol Corporation is looking for highly motivated students to complete Health, Safety, Environmental, and Security (HSES) Internships at our Painesville, OH facility. There is one opening for the Summer and one opening for the Fall. 


Job Summary:

The Safety Intern position will offer the successful candidate an opportunity to integrate classroom knowledge with practical field skills.  This is an excellent opportunity to earn money while relating your studies to regulatory requirements in a chemical manufacturing facility. The position is appropriately paid with flex work hours of up to 15 hours/week during the school year and 40 hours/week during the summer.  This is a great opportunity to build your resume.  


Essential Duties and Responsbilities: 

Assist with the Following:

  • Respiratory Protection Program
  • Hearing Protection Program
  • Industrial Hygiene (IH) Monitoring Program
  • Control of Hazardous Energy – LO/TO Program
  • Safe work permit systems (hot work, confined space entry, line breaking)
  • Develop safety training
  • Develop Job Safety Analyses
  • Analysis of injury data
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • High School Diploma from an accredited school
  • Student of at least 2nd semester freshman status working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Safety and Occupational Health, Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required (strong Excel skills)
  • Able to work Monday through Friday for 8 hours a day during the summer
  • Able to work well with others
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work effectively as an individual with minimal direction, and as part of a larger team
  • Values safety for yourself and others around you


Considered a Plus:

  • Familure with OSHA 1910 General Industry Standards

Working Conditions:

  • Able to climb, wear fall protection, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be willing/able to work in a plant environment.
  • Ability to wear all required PPE
