Job Summary:

The Maintenance Service Manager has overall responsibility and accountability for all aspects of maintenance and associated operations and is responsible for providing leadership, guidance and direction to employees in the Maintenance Services group.  The Maintenance Service Manager is responsible for ensuring consistent, safe and environmentally conscious practices.  Maintenance Service manager shall strive for cost effective, reliable operation, continuous improvement to maximize asset reliability and improve reliability/planning programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the entirety of his/her organization embraces the vision of the Painesville plant and the corporation, setting clear expectations and ensuring goals are met.
  • Provide strategic leadership, ensuring that all the information required to achieve the plant’s, department’s and group’s goals is available to, and understood by, all involved.
  • Promote and support the group’s efforts to achieve excellence in environmental, health, safety and security performance, providing visible safety leadership and taking corrective and preventive action as appropriate and coordinate monthly safety meetings.
  • Fill the assigned role during emergencies at the Emergency Control Center.
  • Maintain a positive work environment/culture that fosters efficiency, effectiveness and high morale while ensuring that all employees are treated fairly and equitably.
  • Train, monitor, encourage and assist in the development of direct reports and utilize the PCM process at least annually. 
  • Develop standard maintenance and reliability processes.
  • Define actionable, department specific KPI’s.
  • Promote collaborative interaction between maintenance and engineering organizations.
  • Develop and manage the Maintenance Services budget.
  • Develop and maintain department standards for equipment and procedures.
  • Provide necessary support for non-routine tasks, shutdowns, and upset conditions, including outside of normal working hours.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:                         

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university
  • Experience working on maintenance and reliability programs
  • Supervisory experience
  • Proven project management skills
  • Ability to lead complex initiatives, communicate effectively and develop processes
  • High proficiency in problem solving
  • Experience with construction and/or maintenance activities planning
  • Ability to work in a team environment
    Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project and SAP

Considered a Plus:

  • Professional Licensure
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience optimizing maintenance programs
  • Maintenance / Reliability Certifications (such as CMRP)
  • Experience with Lean / Continuous Improvement Methodologies.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be willing/able to work in a plant environment.
  • Work is performed within a controlled environment; noise levels in some areas require hearing protection.
  • Must be willing/able to be exposed to inclement weather while moving throughout the plant during the workday as required.
  • Expected to wear all required PPE.
  • Safely work independently and around others by following all required procedures.
