Manufacturing Procurement & Operations Leader


Job Mission


  • Lead Americas External Manufacturing (EM) for Polyol Ester Lubricants (POE).
  • Represent & implement Fair and Fact-Based Supplier Relationships Management (SRM).
  • Collaboration with Lubrizol Global Raw Material Procurement and other CPI EM experts to attainment of Business Financial (UOI) Goals and addressing targeted Opportunities & Gaps.


Key Job Accountabilities


  • Lead Americas POE External Manufacturing Procurement, including Purchase-for-Resale (PFR), in collaboration with Europe/Asia and non-POE EM leaders, including:
    • POE operational, engineering, and other supply execution detail, with the objective be a leader of CPI POE EM.
    • Contract implementation & execution, including follow-up (including financial resolutions).
    • Negotiation of Contracts, Amendments and owning the Operations Plan definition & changes.
    • Product Mix optimization (across regions and with PFR & Lubrizol production assets).
    • Collaboration with Raw Material Procurement & Global Category Leaders impacting EM.
    • Manage & own PFR & EM pricing in SAP system (Purchase Info Record - PIRs).
    • Assessment (and lead of potential addition/deletion) of viable new Americas POE EMs.
    • Provide oversight/input of engineering & design decisions at CPI’s POE EMs.
  • Lead Operations (Ops) Management oversight for POE EM & Lubrizol assets in the Americas
    • Lead scale-ups of new POE products or in use of new RM.
    • Lead for asset design changes meeting CPI/Lubrizol requirements & minimum standards.
    • Focal point for system set-up in collaboration with ERP Systems subject matter experts (SME).
    • Manage EM Ops requirements for raw materials (RM) supply in Buy/Sell Model.
  • Collaboration with RM Procurement that impact POE production, including management of RM supply to Buy/Sell Model, new RM evaluation, selection, and determination of approval criteria.
  • Promote a strong SRM mindset with EM suppliers; negotiate & implement contracts / agreements; drive compliance; monitor and execute.
    • Establishment of a formal performance management tracking process(s).
  • Co-ownership of CPI POE Technology Library (Technology Packs and Operational Technology documenting sustainable EM Operating Disciple) and Excel cost model(s).
    • Assure implementation of POE EM rebates and contract Capital Pay-off commitments.
  • Americas Market Competitive Intelligence of industry POE suppliers (costs, capacity, & capability).
  • Ad hoc support of in non-POE EM blending & packaging.
  • Negotiate & identify innovative solutions to mitigate the risks of price, quality, service levels, reliability-of-supply, lead-time, and process improvements toward business goals,
  • A valued working partner with Commercial, Supply Planning, and Customer Service Teams including being pseudo integrated with Lubrizol Procurement Custom Manufacturing.
  • Close collaboration with the business team(s), e.g. product management & development.


Basic Qualifications


  • University degree preferred in Chemical Engineering, could be Biochemical or Mechanical engineering with applicable experience & skillsets.
  • 12-20 years with a multinational chemical company in manufacturing & engineering and commercial roles, preferably with experience in procurement or commercial analysis, manufacturing analysis, cost modeling, commodity feedstocks pricing, and contract leadership.
  • Strong chemical industry manufacturing experience (engineering and operations management).
  • Strong Microsoft Excel capability.
