Summary of Responsibilities:


The Senior Quality Control Technician is responsible for testing incoming raw materials, in process testing for concentrates, and finished products for shipping, as well as closing batch tickets.  This position is also responsible for the coordination and organization of activities within the Quality Control laboratory.


Essential Job Functions:


  • Leads and coordiantes testing activities with the department.
  • Prioritize working documents and batch ticket testing/releases.
  • Work directly with manufacturing, technical, and other departments to determine root causes of internal and external issues related to product quality.
  • Coordinate product non-conformance reports, corrective action reports, and documentation for customer complaints and supplier defects.
  • Provide timely and appropriate correspondence to customers and sales regarding quality concerns.
  • Prepare data analysis about quality information and make recommendations as necessary.
  • Keep management team updated on significant issues or developments identified during quality activities and actions being taken to improve situations.
  • Particiapte in interdepartmental meetings as the QC representative, document action items, and communicate results to the team.
  • Validate laboratory processes and procedures.
  • Test and release raw materials, mediums, and finished products using laboratory equipment.
  • Follow identified specifications and standard operating procedures regarding quality approvals of raw materials, mediums, and finished products.
  • Issue and proofread COA and SDS for the existing products, including generating templates for new customers, approving templates and creating documents.
  • Clean tech-ware and calibrate instruments daily by following the procedures as required.
  • Enter testing data and close batch tickets and purchasing orders in database.
  • Make bar-code labels for products and raw materials when need.
  • File batch tickets and keep retains.
  • Maintain the micro samples receiving log and submit samples for testing.
  • Provide support for investigation of nonconforming batches.
  • Perform daily housekeeping in the warehouse to ensure a safe, clean work environment.
  • Aid in providing ongoing audits.
  • Other duties as assigned.




Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree Chemistry or technical degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 3-5 years quality control laboratory experience (or equivalent) in a manufacturing environment.
  • 1-2 years leadership experience
  • Possess a technical understanding of quality control tests and their relationship to the manufacturing process and/or customer processes and applications.
  • Proven demonstration of process improvement and mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of safe lab practices, lab techniques and quality management principles.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Posess time management skills and the ability to prioritize.
  • Good organizational skills, verbal/written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Must have strong problem-solving and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong MS Office products knowledge and skills.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25lbs.
  • Must be able to frequently:

    • Walk - 30%
    • Stand - 30%

  • Project management experience.
  • Previous direct customer interaction.
