Summary of Responsibilities:

 

The HSES Manager is responsible for providing strategic and tactical leadership in the development and implementation of the facility’s HSES and Responsible Care® programs and initiatives in order to assure compliance with applicable laws and regulations and corporate and industry standards consistent with Lubrizol’s Corporate Philosophy, and Health, Safety, Environment and Security policy.    

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Facilitate the development and implementation through line management of HSES programs and initiatives in support of the facility’s compliance programs, Responsible Care Management System, and facility and corporate goals.
  • Assure compliance with applicable laws and regulations and company policies and standards.
  • Identify, prioritize, develop, and implement HSES department activities to ensure that it is supporting and contributing to the goals and objectives of the facility and the overall HSES function.
  • Conduct training and development of the new employee and contractor training program.
  • Conduct monthly safety meetings and develop and distribute plant toolbox talks.
  • Conduct Job Safety Analysis, PPE assessments, and risk assessments for all plant positions.
  • Conduct daily plant observations/audits.
  • Implement corrective actions from internal/external audits, inspections, visits, and observations.
  • Develop and implement hazard identification, communication and mitigation plans.
  • Conduct safety equipment inspections (fire extinguishers, spill response kits, eye wash stations,  etc).
  • Coordinate security set up (badges, exterior cameras, and access activity logs).
  • Maintain, train, and execute evacuation plans.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in occupations health, safety, engineering, or related major.
  • Minimum of 4 years previous HSE&S experience.
  • Environmental experience in the Chemical Industry.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead in a team environment.
  • Ability to work successfully with internal and external customers in a professional manner.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead with minimal supervision, demonstrating an entrepreneurial attitude.
  • Proven PC skills, including MS Office software.
  • Must demonstrate enthusiasm, a sense of urgency, attention to detail, commitment and follow-through while maintaining confidentiality and meeting deadlines.
