Product Manager – Passenger Car and Heavy-Duty Diesel Engine Oil Additives

 

This role is based at the European marketing and technical centre located in a rural setting at Hazelwood, eight miles from Derby city centre, UK.

 

 

The Role:

 

The Product Manager will manage a portfolio of advanced lubricant additive products to ensure the company’s business targets are achieved with profitable growth through the development of enduring customer relationships. This will require the creation and execution of "market based" product strategies across consumer and commercial lubricants that offer differentiation. Key to your success will be insight from analysis and assessment of applications, end uses and customer requirements for specified markets in Europe, Africa and Russia. The Product Manager demonstrates leadership and influence by communicating and executing the product portfolio strategy with internal and external customers and global stakeholders.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Analyse market trends, business needs and identify effective solutions and business impacts.
  • Develop, maintain, implement and communicate on innovative and realistic product line strategy.
  • Understand and implement marketing mix around product positioning, pricing, promotion and placement.
  • Convert market changes into opportunities for growth.
  • Develop and publish product promotional material (electronic and traditional).
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of the business plan.
  • May provide commercial support or leadership to New Product Development teams, with the provision of market insight, analytical support and guidance as required.
  • Ensure alignment with Sales, OEM and Marketing teams on strategy and tactics to successfully implement the business plan in pursuit of growth targets. Provide the appropriate resources, tools and training to do so.
  • Build effective relationships with other internal divisions and external groups, especially customers.
  • Apply market knowledge to help customers grow their business and identify ways they can differentiate themselves.
  • Monitor and report financial results.

 

What we are looking for:

 

  • A graduate in a technical or business-related discipline.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • A proven track record at building relationships both internally and externally, comfortable to succeed in a matrix organisation
  • A creative thinker as it relates to analysis and product positioning. 
  • A strategic thinker, effective planner that can develop and manage execution of their product line development and promotion plans across the internal organization, and across the external customer base.
  • Demonstrates adaptability.
  • Able to travel (regionally and potentially globally) up to 25%.

 

Considered a Plus:

  • MBA optional
  • Experience in product management, marketing, sales, project management, procurement or technical customer service, preferably in the B2B or B2C channels in the specialty chemicals, lubricant or petrochemicals industry.
  • Skilled at market mapping, market analysis and product line profitability analysis.
