<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, evaluation, and repair of all processing and utility equipment in the plant.  Equipment will include, but is not limited to piping, valves, pumps, compressors, reactors / pressure vessels, boilers, low pressure storage tanks, agitators, and materials handling equipment.

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Duties and Responsibilities

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Safely performs preventive and predictive maintenance and repair of all industrial equipment associated with the operation of the facility and production of chemicals
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Leads and assists in equipment troubleshooting for mechanical and electrical equipment
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Leads and assists in the fabrication, construction, installation, and modification of new, existing and customized equipment throughout the facility
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Performs welding for mechanical equipment, structural and piping applications, including SMAW (Stick), MIG, and TIG methods; equipment metallurgies will include carbon steel, stainless steels, and aluminum.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Performs soldering and brazing for plumbing and copper piping applications
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Performs general carpentry and metal fabrication work with a variety of materials
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Performs equipment lubrication tasks with oils, greases, filters, pumps, and other advanced tools (ultrasonic tool)
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Performs basic facility maintenance tasks including cleaning, sweeping, and occasional snow removal and salting
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Operates or works with forklifts and other heavy equipment (telehandler, boom truck / crane, skid steer, etc.)  
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Performs all work in compliance with all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures, including confined space entry, hot work, equipment lockout, trailer entry, emergency, etc.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">The Maintenance Mechanic is also expected to perform other reasonably related maintenance and business duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor, Site Engineering Staff and Site Management.

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Excellent math, reading, comprehension and problem-solving skills.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Basic computer skills and knowledge of data entry
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Valid driver’s license
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">3+ years welding experience
  • Ability to work safely, independently and on a team
  • Must be willing to work overtime including weekends, holidays and call-ins
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Must be medically certified to wear a negative-pressure respirator and other PPE as required

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Preferred Qualifications

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Experience working in a chemical plant
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">3+ years' skilled industrial maintenance experience
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Associate’s degree or certificate in Industrial Maintenance and/or Engineering Technology programs (or similar)
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Experience with SAP
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Experience ASME / NBIC code welding, boiler and pressure vessel repair, or AWS / CWI weld inspection
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Experience with air-operated diaphragm, centrifugal, positive displacement, and other pumps
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Experience with mechanical seals and seal pots for rotating equipment
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Experience with predictive maintenance (ultrasound, IR thermography, oil analysis, or vibration)
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Experience with basic electrical / electronic controls and instrumentation
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Familiarity with ISO procedures, plumbing, millwriting, rigging, rotating/stationary equipment repair, metal fabrication, insulating, and reading prints/diagrams a plus.

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Working Conditions

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Will be subjected to extended periods of climbing ladders and stairways, sitting, kneeling, walking, standing, bending, stooping, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, moving and lifting up to 55 pounds.
