Job Summary:

The Maintenance Millwright will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for installing, moving and repairing equipment and machinery. The position also requires that millwrights align and adjust machine parts as needed and replace parts of machines that have fallen into disrepair.    

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain plant reliability by improving equipment operation and repairs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent oral, written, and telephone communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Detail oriented and the ability to prioritize, organize, and follow through
  • Ability to communicate with various departments on equipment related issues.
  • Prior experience in chemical plant and familiar with plant equipment
  • Knowledge of maintenance craft disciplines
  • Demonstrated skill in handling multiple tasks at once to accomplish the overall goal
  • Thorough knowledge of plant safety policies and procedures
  • Self-starter; takes initiative and good time management skills
  • Clean up at the end of shift to make sure your job site remains well-organized and free of unnecessary clutter
  • Ability to read flow diagrams for all manufacturing systems
  • Ability to source your own materials for repairs via phone or email.
  • Additional duties as assigned

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:                         

  • Two to five years’ experience as a millwright
  • Working knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and rebuilding of
    • Large gearbox agitators and compressors
    • Conveyors
    • Centrifugal, pneumatic and positive displacement pumps
    • Air compressors
  • Alignment of rotating equipment
  • Normal work schedule 4/10’s, Monday through Thursday and half day on Friday.
  • Must be willing to work holidays, weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Willingness to take maintenance callouts during off hours as needed
  • Self-motivated to safely produce high volume of work with excellent quality.
  • Knowledge of all plant permitting, LOTO, PSM, and safe work procedures
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
  • Willingness to serve on teams such as the plant safety team or the emergency response team.
  • The ability to keep information confidential.
  • No fear of working at heights.
  • Able to work in confined spaces.

 

Considered a Plus:

  • Previous chemical plant experience or knowledge of chemical hazards.
  • HAZWOPER training
  • Experience with SAP
  • Formal technical/trade schools or certification  
  • Experience working with glass-lined equipment
  • Working knowledge of milling machine, lathe, and balancing equipment
  • Pipe fitting experience.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be willing/able to work outdoors in inclement
  • Will be subject to extended periods of climbing ladders and stairways, sitting, walking, standing, bending, stooping, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, moving and lifting up to 100 pounds.
  • Many areas may be extremely noisy, able to wear hearing protection
  • Must be willing/able to work outdoors in inclement weather
  • Must maintain PPE expectations. (ex. Clean shaven, uniform, PPE as needed)
