Job Summary:
- Management responsibility for driving Operational Excellence for the Deer Park, TX site. The Operational Excellence Manager will help with implementing strategic initiatives of Lubrizol’s standardization of manufacturing, which include lean principles, elimination of waste, reducing inefficiencies and complexities, optimizing operational capacity, culture of continuous improvement and productivity.
Essential Job Functions:
- Role oversees and performs work relating to operational excellence (requires time in the plant and office).
- Plan, lead, and execute implementation of lean processes and operational excellence initiatives supporting Lubrizol pillars: People, Enterprise Operations and Customer.
- Manages all aspects of continuous improvement tools utilized by Lubrizol, including but not limited to leader standard work, rapid improvement exercise, value stream mapping / analysis, A3s, and root cause analysis with corrective actions. Includes facilitation of meetings, workshops, and exercises to drive strategic thinking and connectivity between teams to achieve results.
- Manages all aspects of standardizing manufacturing with focus on Operations, Maintenance and Quality.
- Manage coordination & prioritization of work with stakeholders: Production, Maintenance, Manufacturing Technology, Quality, Learning & Development, Engineering, & HSES. Provide leadership, oversight and accountability of work progressing to plan and to the desired results.
- Interface and align work processes and initiatives with corporate Operational Excellence organization; this can include interfacing with 3rd party consultants.
- Provide leadership with engagements in the office and plant, monitoring performance as it relates to continuous improvement tools, work efficiency, safety, compliance, and management of tasks to enhance performance and deliver desired results.
- Provide leadership for employee development through regular engagements on performance and career paths, utilizing internal and external resources for employees.
Education / Certification:
- Bachelors or Masters - Engineer Disciplines or related field to job description.
Experience and Skills:
- Experience working in chemical manufacturing, 8+ years.
- Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt (preferred)
- Experience with SAP, Microsoft Office, PI, PlanView or similar management software
- Experience managing people, preference for leadership in chemical manufacturing, 4+ years.
- Experience with implementing lean, standard work, and continuous improvement programs.
