A Maintenance Electrician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing; wiring, motors, transformers, generators, lighting, switchgears, UPS, VFD, PLC, and any other electrical systems.



  • The Electrician must follow all Lubrizol procedures, including all safety procedures, JSA’s, recognition of energized electrical systems, LOTO, Work Permits, and MOC’s.
  • Responsible to perform Preventative Maintenance (PM’s) on any and all electrical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot common electrical equipment, replace all size motors, switches, breakers, lights, electrical wiring, especially 480v motor circuits.
  • Knowledge of UPS, understanding of DCS electrical support motor control functionality, and understand the hazards of energized electrical equipment.
  • Able to rebuild or repair 3-phase industrial motors.
  • Responsible to troubleshoot any electrical equipment that is not working properly, to determine any discrepancies between proper operation and observed operation of the equipment, to isolate any suspect device, and to perform corrective action as necessary to resolve any problems.
  • Replace any malfunctioning or broken equipment, and to select appropriate replacements from Stores inventory.
  • Have knowledge in isolation of equipment, perform retrofits, upgrades, and/or modifications of broken or obsolete equipment to accomplish such replacements. This work may require wiring, and/or conduit.
  • Must complete all paperwork in a timely manner; including timesheets, shop papers, records, and drawing red-lines. Some computer records must be completed; including entering comments and repair codes in the SAP maintenance system, attainment of parts out or back into Stores inventory, and completing computer-based training.
  • Other duties as assigned, which may include such things as new installations, check-outs, and cleaning and preparing equipment for outside service.



  • HS Diploma or GED.
  • 2-Year Electrical Technical/Certificate preferred.
  • Must be a state licensed journeyman electrician.
  • 5+ years of Electrician experience in the petrochemical industry, preferably in a maintenance department.
  • The Electrician must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge to perform Electrical Preventative Maintenance (PM’s).
  • Must have knowledge of insulation tester.
  • Must be familiar with VOM.
  • Must be familiar with high voltage test equipment.
  • Must be competent to work safely with live 480v.
  • High voltage experience a plus.
  • SAP experience a plus.





  • The Electrician must possess physical characteristics to perform the essential functions of the job; including the ability to walk, bend, reach, climb ladders and stairs, work in spaces that may be awkward, use hands and fingers, lift up to 50 pounds, and to sit and use computers and related hardware.
  • Willing to work outdoors in a variety of conditions.
  • Willing and able to work alone.
  • Willing to work weekend duty, to work overtime as needed, and to respond to emergency call-outs.
