Summary of Responsibilities:

Looking for an ideal team player who will report to the Procurement Site Manager. Responsible for representing Lubrizol and facilitate the procurement of indirect goods and service with different suppliers from different segments. This individual will have accountability to manage and procure a slate of equipment, supplies and services at the optimal value, also negotiate arrangements for budget limitations. In addition, this individual will be responsible for ensuring that relationships between the company and vendors are maintained to the satisfaction of all parties.

 

Perform assignments related to the procurement of goods and services including but not limited to negotiation and implementation of regional and national agreements, purchase of capital equipment, and contracting services required by Lubrizol’s chemical plants nationally, and supplier management (pre-qualification, bidding process, negotiation, evaluation). The individual shall work within the framework of the projects with multiple disciplinary teams (maintenance, project engineering, IT, legal, finance, etc.) to deliver an optimized solution from the total cost of ownership (TCO) and reduce operational risk to manufacturing plants and project engineering team.

 

Primary activities include:

  • Act professionally at all times and handle all work activities in a legal and ethical manner in compliance with applicable laws and LZ policies, supporting compliance of all corporate policies and regional/local Health, Safety, Environmental and Security practices.
  • Work closely with Engineering and Maintenance project managers and planners to achieve project objectives while obtaining the highest total value for the corporation (safety, quality and price).
  • 5-10 years of experience negotiating energy (electricity, natural gas, nitrogen, oxygen, water)
  • Ability to research and identify capable vendors or contractors and initiate selection, pre-qualification, development, and approval of new vendors using Ariba system or any electronic method for Request for Information, Request for Quotes, and Request for Proposals for the selection of goods and services.
  • Communicate, follow-up and maintain the commercial agreements in his/her portfolio.
  • Collect, analyze, and assure quality and accuracy of the spend analysis where applicable, negotiating purchases and agreements, entering, monitoring, maintaining and checking compliance purchase orders and contracts in SAP.
  • Assist engineering and maintenance teams in defining commercially viable project scope (functional definition, value analysis), and proactively identify opportunities for bidding process, including but not limited to sourcing globally.
  • Manage non-conformance issues internally and with vendors.
  • Educate others involved with the project on procurement policies and procedures.

 

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:

  • 4-year college degree from an accredited institution in supply chain, logistics, finance, accounting, business, economics, engineering or other technical discipline.
  • 7-10 years related indirect procurement experience.
  • Minimum 5 years negotiating energy package (electricity, natural gas, nitrogen and hydrogen). 
  • Ability to work in a Matrixed organization using diplomacy to achieve goals.
  • Strong procurement knowledge with minimum 7-10 years’ experience in purchasing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to relate well with individuals at various levels, inside and outside of the organization.
  • Demonstrated negotiation, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient with SAP, S4Hanna and Ariba

  • Previous manufacturing environment experience
  • Other languages (Spanish, Portuguese, French)
