Vesta, a Lubrizol company is a contract manufacturer that specializes in producing thermoplastic extruded tubing and components for medical devices that are used in hospitals internationally. Vesta is located in Corona California which is located in Riverside County. We less than 30 miles away from the beach and Disneyland.

Vesta Corona, California location has a class 8 certified clean room, which is 17,000 square feet. We have 14 extrusion lines as well as co-ex lines. We are able to run multiple extruders which can produce a two layer, stripes and three layer extrusion.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The LEVEL III Extrusion Technician is responsible for carrying out the production of medical grade extruded tubing in a safe and proper manner helping to improve quality, reduce scrap to meet all task and cycle time requirements. These primary responsibilities of the Extrusion Technician are firmly based in the manufacture of tubing to customer given specifications - which will differ from customer to customer, part to part and by material – LEVEL III Concentrations; The Extrusion Technician will have firm understanding in applying lean tools, investigative / problem solving techniques with demonstrated results by practicing plastics processing philosophies utilized for;  gaining / recording efficiencies, active promoting / executing process improvement ideas, sustaining 5S, meeting value stream commitments, Kanban attainments, and championing 3P / SMED production preparation strategies to ensure continuous flow of quality products to expected schedule and or the specific task at hand.

 

SHIFT / SCHEDULE:

  • Shift Hours: (2) Teams (12) Hour Shifts, (4) Days a Week
  • Note that this position may require additional overtime hours depending on business needs on both a volunteer or fixed schedule basis if / as required.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The responsibilities and duties laid out in document #XXXX for Technician Level I and Level II are prerequisite requirements to move into the Level III.
  • Safety – must be safety conscious and always promoting safety routinely
  • Able to set up any auxiliary equipment, and min. 50% of the extrusion lines
  • Run at least 3 of the following 6 complex tubing platforms: Bump, multi-lumen/profiles, co-ex/tri-layer, vacuum tubing, tight tolerance/thin wall, or braided tubing (meaning no support needed on 3 of the 6 types of complex tubing we run)
  • Willing to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals
  • Able to convert units of measurement, add, subtract multiplication and division.
  • Can do attitude, respectful, works ethically, creates supportive environment
  • Can work in 70% of extrusion work cells with any and all equipment
  • Able to convert units of measurement, add, subtract multiplication and division.
  • Able to read and use measuring tools, ruler, calipers, micrometer, veneer and snap gages.

 

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:

  • Safety – must be safety conscious and always promoting safety routinely. Must have served on one Safety Committee as a member during a calendar year and is active as a first responder at Level IV.

  • Systems – Work to understand all Administrative Systems (Production Report, PCO Process, Purchase Requisition Process, Engineering / Validation Processes, Maintenance Req Process)
  • Information Technology – Works hard to understand how to create and interpret metrics and testing graphs from Excel / PowerBI, able to create documents, able to work in Microsoft Office (demonstrate by example or test skill)
  • Problem Solving – Works diligently to communicate problems in a timely manner; works with Supervisors and team members to address identified issues.
  • Communications - Expresses ideas and thoughts verbally; selects and uses appropriate communication methods.
  • Written Communication - Writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar, GDP guidelines followed regarding in process documented mistakes; able to read and interpret written information.
  • Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality; applies feedback to improve performance; monitors own work to ensure quality.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • This physical demand level for this job is considered light with frequently lifting up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds. Exposure to lifting more than 50 pounds is rare (if ever).
  • During Extrusion Technician work, employee will constantly be exposed to dynamic standing/walking and use of hands to finger/handle or touch. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The employee will constantly be exposed to working near moving mechanical parts with occasional exposure to working in high/precarious places (ladder), fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock.  The employee will rarely (if ever) be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold or heat (non-weather), wet/humid non-weather conditions or travel on company business.  The noise level is considered moderate (business office with computer printers/light traffic). The noise level is considered loud (normal shop floor conditions while machines are in operation).

 

The employee will be required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as: safety glasses in the designated areas, hairnet/beardnet and jumpsuit when on the production floor, gloves when handling hot objects or solvents, earplugs when required and steel toed shoes (preferred).

 

Vesta is located in Corona CA, the golden state. Corona is located in Southern California where the beaches are less than 30 miles away. You can take a 20 minute drive to the Happiest Place on Earth- Disneyland and see their beloved firework show at 9:00pm every night. Corona is a 45 minute drive to Los Angeles, the entertainment capital in the world. The City of Los Angeles is home of the new Los Angeles Rams who have shaken up and created new excitement for the locals. This city is diverse with many different cultures and restaurants. Summer starts off with many different music festivals such as: Coachella, Snowglobe, Stagecoach and so much more. Vegas is less than 4 hours away and an easy drive for a weekend getaway.
