Position Summary

The LEAD Extrusion Technician is responsible for carrying out the production of medical grade extruded tubing in a safe and proper manner helping to improve quality, reduce scrap to meet all task and cycle time requirements. These primary responsibilities of the Extrusion Technician are firmly based in the manufacture of tubing to customer given specifications - which will differ from customer to customer, part to part and by material – LEADI Concentrations; The Extrusion Technician will have firm understanding in applying & teaching lean tools, investigative / problem solving techniques with demonstrated results by practicing plastics processing philosophies utilized for;  gaining / recording efficiencies, active promoting / executing process improvement ideas, sustaining 5S, meeting value stream commitments, Kanban attainments, and championing 3P / SMED production preparation strategies to ensure continuous flow of quality products to expected schedule and or the specific task at hand.

Position Responsibilities

  • Responsible for technically leading up to 8 different machine cells (available to support any questions for technicians in their work cells and work shoulder to shoulder)
  • Works with planner to understand scheduling and lining technicians up each shift to their machine in absence of supervisor working 3 P activities
  • Coordinate breaks and lunches in the absence of the supervisor
  • Communicates with office personnel/engineers and to the technicians in the work cells
  • Complete the production and completion report in the supervisor's absence or as needed
  • Certified as an emergency responder, safety champion
  • Understands evacuation routes in the event they are the top-ranking personnel at the plant in case of emergency
  • Support any safety initiatives and reporting
  • Can start up and shut down all equipment properly
  • Will go through various Lubrizol specific training including:
    • 4 Step Problem Solving
    • Operations Reliability Management System Certification
    • Situational Leadership Training

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of high school or GED, some college hours
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years’ experience as an extrusion operator or technician, preferably in medical or equivalent product environments
  • Mechanical, machine operating or extrusion experience (preferred)
  • Safety – must be safety conscious and always promoting safety routinely as a leader
  • Continuous Learning - Assesses own strengths and weaknesses; seeks feedback to improve performance; pursues training and development opportunities identified in Extrusion Technician Class Level IV information; strives to continuously build knowledge and skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication
  • Flexible to change and possess a high degree level of integrity and “can do attitude”
  • Willing to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals
  • Ability to convert units of measurement, add, subtract multiplication and division
  • Can read and use measuring tools, ruler, calipers, micrometer, veneer and snap gages

Physical Demands

  • This physical demand level for this job is considered light with frequently lifting up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds. Exposure to lifting more than 50 pounds is rare (if ever)
  • During Extrusion Technician work, employee will constantly be exposed to dynamic standing/walking and use of hands to finger/handle or touch.  The employee will occasionally be exposed static standing/sitting, to pushing/pulling (up to 25 lbs of force), floor to knuckle lift/lower (up to 25lbs), knuckle to shoulder lift/lower (up to 25 lbs), shoulder to overhead lift/lower, climb/balance (onstairs/ladder), stoop, kneel, crouch/crawl, reach above shoulders and repetitive bending or squatting with rare (if ever) exposure to sustained bending or use foot/feet to operate machine
  • The following vision requirements apply: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • The employee will be required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as: safety glasses in the designated areas, hairnet/beardnet and jumpsuit when on the production floor, gloves when handling hot objects or solvents, earplugs when required and steel toed shoes (preferred)

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Lubrizol Corona site is located in the golden state. Corona is located in Southern California where the beaches are less than 30 miles away. You can take a 20 minute drive to the Happiest Place on Earth- Disneyland and see their beloved firework show at 9:00pm every night. Corona is a 45 minute drive to Los Angeles, the entertainment capital in the world. The City of Los Angeles is home of the new Los Angeles Rams who have shaken up and created new excitement for the locals. This city is diverse with many different cultures and restaurants. Summer starts off with many different music festivals such as: Coachella, Snowglobe, Stagecoach and so much more. Vegas is less than 4 hours away and an easy drive for a weekend getaway.
